New pictures of my Desert Tortoises

People have been asking for me to post new pictures of the six Desert Tortoises I have, so I went out today and did just that.

This is Frankie, the oldest. We got him from a Wildlife rescue a few years ago. He's around 30 years old. He was brought in because he was run over by a car; he has a crack that goes down one side of his shell. Other than that, he's perfectely fine.

We also have five "baby" Desert Tortoises that my mom got from a friend. Their names are Phil, Percy, George, Bernie, and Roy. My mom named them, and I really don't know who is who.

This is the smallest of all of them, and my favorite.

    The others..

    Frankie with one of them.

    More coming..

    Look at that little tougue.

I like how this one came out.

    Group shot..

And just as a size comparison, this is the biggest one and the smallest one together. Quite a difference.

Sorry for so many. Hope you liked them!

I love desert tortises, I've always thought they were so cute. I've wanted one for a long time, but I don't have any place to keep it. One of the people I pet sit for has a desert tortise with only 3 legs, he is so cute. I love feeding him cactus berries because I love how his little face gets all red from the juice.

Thanks for the great signature Kay!

    Thanks Ash and Laura.

Yep, they live outside. We have a little area made just for the "baby" tortoises, and Frankie usually gets full run of the backyard. We also have a shed made just for them when it's time to hibernate.

The dogs are fine with them. They don't bother them, and likewise with the tortoises.

LOL, well, my mom actually thinks they're all females; which means the names don't fit them very well.

    LOL I love this one

They look like lawn decoration. But they're all so awesome and cute!

What unusual pets! Hehehe, they are terribly cute too! I was thinking about getting a couple of Yellow bellied Sliders. Does anyone know about these aquatic turtles?
