Max, the Holistic Vet and a Question

I took Max to a holistic vet last Saturday. We had a long chat about his allergy problems. His first recommendation was to take him off processed dog food and change to Sojos (www.sojos.com). It's a a mix to which you add water, raw meat and vegetables. The idea is to reduce the number of additives the dog eats and increase the nutrients they get from their food. He also prescribed some chinese herbs and did an acupuncture treatment.

I decided that if one changed food, they all needed to change. So for the next couple of weeks we are slowly changing over from processed dog food to this new diet. For Max, Muffin and Kirby, the change was no problem. They LOVE it!! For Carly and Molly, it's been a slow process. They kind of like it, but they're just not sure. Finally, last night Carly decided this stuff wasn't too bad and wolfed hers down. Molly did OK too.

The vet also said that since they all seem to have weight issues that I should feed them once a day. That has definitely been an adjustment for them.

We go back tomorrow for the second acupuncture treatment.

Since nothing we've done so far has really helped Max for any long period of time, I've decided to give this a really good try.

I know there have been others on this same long road for help and I am wondering how your babies have been doing?

Robin, you are a great mom to Max and the others. Look at all you're doing to try and get him some relief. I do hope this new approach will help him. It can't hurt for sure, being so pure and wholesome. And the acupunture is an interesting approach too. I do hope it will help.

I don't have any advice but I just wanted to wish you and Max good luck as you go through this.

I hope the change in diet works.
I am curious about the acupunture.

    Please keep us updated.

If I remember correctly, Sojo's is what Leslie (AdoreMyDogs) feeds hers. I watched them for a week, and they got that in the morning along with raw hamburger and a small amount of Innova. In the evening they just got Innova (and meat?) Her dogs seemed to love it.

I hope it helps with Max's allergy problems!

I had my dogs on a similar diet. We didn't use Sojo's but we did use raw meat too. They were so healthy. I just realized how much more my dogs' overall health deteriorated since taking them off raw. Kaedyn seems to be developing some kind of mild allergies already..

Good luck with the diet! It sounds really interesting.
