    Any ideas?

I'm sitting here cleaning through all the junk that has deposited itself in my house over the past three years. Its an amazing amount of junk!

Anyway, I have at least three full dresser drawers full of fabric samples from work. We're talking BEE-UUU-TEEE-FULL silks, mohairs, wools, cottons, crepes, etc. Most are fairly small, about 7x7 or 8x8 inches. I've not known what to do with them... thought perhaps sachets, but I'm allergic to the smelly stuff you put inside, so making them would be a miserable experience!

So, the BRILLIANT entrepreneur that I am finally had a concept. I would like to make little stuffed pillows that have a silk cord, or maybe a beaded cord on them to hang on doorknobs or walls, etc. I would like to make "frames" out of the beautiful fabric and use it one the back, and then in the center I'd like to have witty little sayings like "cathair IS a fashion accessory" or "Meowy Christmas" Ok, maybe they're a bit lame, but you get the drift. I'd sell them at local craft bazzaar around Christmas.

So here's where I need help:
    *What SAYINGS could I use?
*Should I hand paint the sayings onto some type of coordinating fabric?
*Should I stencil the sayings on?
*How tacky would iron-on transfer be?
(Ideally it should be hand sewn, but who has time, and nobody's going to pay for that.)
*Would anyone actually be interested in buying something like that, or would I be wasting my time? (no, thats definately not a solicitation!)

I think that's a great idea! I would like to have one to hang on a doorknob! I'd put one on the back door that maybe said something about keping the kitties inside....something funny...I don't know? Where's Richard when you need him?! LOL. You could do some with silhouettes of cats, or maybe do a silhouette of a cat on the back of each one. You could, if you had big enough fabric pieces, do personalized pillows for cats to sleep on with funny sayings on them too. Or just pick some common names and put them on a few. I will try to think of more sayings later. Sorry I'm not funny!! LOL

    Anyway sounds like fun!!

Great idea! Hey, there's a HUGE market out there for pet lovers! It doesnt matter how cheesy the things are, someone will buy them! hehe You could have one that says "I own stock in lint rollers." "Calicos are the ultimate accessory. Their hair goes with everything!" Of course, it all depends on how much room you have to work with. (By the way, if you use my sayings, I expect at least 20% of the profits! ) I'm curious to see what you come up with!

I came up with an idea several years ago...a take off on "Home Is Where The Heart Is"..instead it's "Home Is Where The Hair Is"! I expect at least 25% of the profits. Maybe I should patent it quick! LizzieLou's idea of purrsonalized cat pillows sounds unique! Maybe with the cats name...Spoiled Pouncer Sleeps Here! Potholders are easy to stitch up..."Around here cat hair is a condiment" etc. You'll get plenty of ideas from PTrs!

Keep em coming guys!!! But if everyone's hoping for a piece of the action, there won't be any action left to go around!

I figured I'll get that fabric paint that comes in a squeeze bottle and calligraphy the sayings (well as good calligraphy as one can do using a squeeze bottle!)

Maybe tomorrow I'll whip up a few samples (without the writing just yet) to fuel people's creativity! I can do artistic and crafty stuff but witty wording? I am terrible.

I think the little pillows and the framed fabric idea's are so neat!! I'm leaning towards the framed art but I'm a frame freak anyway! You have some really cute saying ideas already. I have to see if I can come up something.
I'm dying to see some finished art work. Make sure you post some pictures for us!!

    Funnies...

I've got a list in a journal of witty lines. Most aren't kitty oriented but here's a good one:
