Need advice for my friend!!

Here's the story:

My friend has 3 dogs, but her mom has decided that 3 is too many and told her that she had to find a home for one of the younger ones. Her mom wants her to keep one of them, while my friend wants to keep the other....

One of the things that triggered her mom wanting to give the younger dog (a pit bull) Charlotte away was that she attacked one of the other dogs over a pig ear. Charlotte and other dog, Alice, already had theirs, but Bear (their other dog) was taking a long time to eat it, so Alice stole it from Bear, and Charlotte thought she should have it, so Alice growled and snarled at her, and Char just "snapped" and they started fighting... Alice was squealing and whining and then after my friend finally separated them she was still whining... According to my friend, her dad is the one that gave them all pig ears, and my friend has told her parents several times to never ever give them treats unless they give them the treats and put them all in their crates.... but her dad didn't listen... So after that happened her mom made Charlotte go outside and she put her on some chain that was hooked up on some trees...

Now the pit isn't allowed in the house and my friend's mom keeps telling her to get rid of the dog. I don't know what advice to give to my friend, so I was hoping fellow PT'ers would have some good advice? My friend really loves her pittie but her mom keeps telling her to give her away.. Any advice??

Sounds like your friend has no choice if her mother is taking this kind of stance. I'm not really any help, but I do hope that things will work out for the dog.

Oh, I can totally relate. It's so so dificult trying to raise a dog on your own when you live with your family. You tell them all the rules, but they don't listen.

I'm really sorry that your friend has to go through this. Maybe it would be better to find her a new home, maybe without other dogs? Or if your friend could convince her parents to let her work with Charlotte around other dogs? I'm sure the situation could be improved with lots of training and desensitizing.

I hope that Charlotte ends up in a great home, either way.
