It has been one of 'those' weeks. I get home from work to at least 2-3 calls a day re: cats. I just got in 2 nights ago and hear someone talking on the answering machine. This woman who I've known for too long just came back from the market, and tells me there's a cat under a car in the middle of the parking lot. Off I go (2 minute drive) locate cat who is traumatized to say the least. Pop the catfood can open, lure her out, get the neck scruff and plunk her into the tiny kitten carrier I had in the car. Filthy DMH tabby & white girl that had kittens at some point. I had no place to stick her except the bathroom for the night. It looked like a gas station bathroom in no time flat, dirt everywhere.Sweet kitty though, and thankfully wasn't filled with milk in the A.M! She was settled into a cage downstairs until room opens up at the shelter. (As if lately
). Same day I get a call from 'Paul' who adopted two kitties from me a while back. His neighbor "just looooves her 2 kittens, and hates to throw them out but....GRRR! So I've been on the phone doing the run around trying to find placement for the two kittens. In the meantime Paul (I'm going to set him straight on this one) gives the woman my home #! And other's home #S! A spot opened up in a shelter 35-45 minutes from me, so I had to drop everything and drive these two up there rather than take the chance of finding them smooshed on the street.
Another 'thorn in my side' has been badgering me about a cat on her street who is owned but not well cared for. Ruth has been given the OK to make the 2 minute drive w/the cat to the animal hospital, and another shelter will pick her up after she's had her medical work done. No... Ruth wants ME to take time out of my busy life and take the cat to the shelter I deal with. Lazy S.O.S! Ruth so convienently found six sick kittens a week ago, the day after I told her I have NO ROOM!
I will never turn away any kittens, but it really p**ssed me off that she couldn't contribute to the round the clock care these babies needed. One tube of eye ointment x 12 eyes two times a day=a tube a day practically! And vets aren't cheap. The kittens are improving every day, but I feel so used by the entire community lately. I've been threatening to disconnect the phone and move to a remote island..but there aren't any. So my next choice is a Bridge Party! Jump off that nice tall bridge not far from here and be done with it all. I have friends coming with me lol!
Not cats...humans also sick of all the B.S in this city. *sigh* My balls and chains won't let me though.
I need some cheering up lately, and a break from all this crap. Jan
