    Do you wear fur?

This may have been done before, but not while I have been here. I tried to go back and search and see if it had been done before, but I couldn't find anything, so here goes.

Just wondering how many people here wear or own real fur? I am not judging anyone, just asking for curiosity sake.

I think it looks so much nicer on the proper owner! I would never wear fur...it is such a brutal way for animals to die just for fashion sake. I don't eat meat either, and haven't for 27 years!

Do you mean beside the golden brown bunny fur that seems to end up on any dark clothing I wear? No. I doubt anyone on this site wears fur that's not discarded from their own pets.

Good grief, no! I agree that the fur looks much better on the animal it was intended for. I wear enough cat/dog fur on my clothes to possibly qualify, tho.

Here's an interesting question though. I've got this seal fur coat that was handed down from my great-great grandmother to my mom. I've had the dang thing since I was 15 or so and it hangs guiltily and hidden in the back reaches of my closet. I'd never dream of wearing it. It's black and I have to idea what type of seal it's from and I don't care to know. My question is, what do I do with it?? Do I just throw it away? Do I give it to a cold homeless person who could use it? Will they get beat up for wearing it? Do I donate it to an anti-fur association for whatever purpose??

Please, I'd welcome all your opinions as I just can't bear to have it hanging in my house any longer.

I think I'd be inclined to give the seal fur coat a proper burial complete with a little cross saying RIP fur coat!

No I don't wear real fur, but I do have a pair of foe-fur mittens. I also use to have a foe-fur jacket, but I gave it to my sister. I do have a suede jacket though.

I don't wear fur, but I do wear leather and eat meat. So I guess I'm not any better than those who do wear fur.

It's wierd. My dad was a butcher, and I was practically raised in a slaughter house. My family was butchers going back seven generations. It was just normal to eat meat, and working there never bothered me.

Now I'm starting to realize how barbaric we are, eating meat and wearing leather. We're - like - putting the dead animal's skin over ours. Isn't that gross?

You know what really got me thinking about this? We bought a farm and I was considering getting a nice little family milk cow. A small Dexter. They're sweet and they live 20 years or so and milking would be so relaxing etc. Then I found out you have to get them pregnant every year. I guess if the calf was a male you'd have it cut up for meat. So - we'd be out petting and milking our sweet little milk cow and eating her baby! How barbaric is that? It's really just plain evil.

    Thanks for the siggy, Lexi_Lover!
