Catnip??

New to the boards and just wanted to know how many of you have had experiences w/catnip? I recently found out that my 4 just LOVE it, and we have some of the best times just watching them indulge themselves(and the antics afterward are more entertaining than ??)-but just so great to see...looking forward to hearing from you all...

I have 4 cats aged 5 to 14. 3 out of the 4 just love catnip, and respond to it in various ways. One just does not respond to it. He would rather have some salmon flavor hairball remedy, LOL!

Both of my cats love catnip and both react differently to it. My older tabby (Trevor) rubs his cheeks in it and rolls all over the floor and looks just so content. My younger cat (Andy) attacks it. It sort of makes him hyperactive and he's so funny to watch. I grow it in my back yard and the other day I was bringing some inside. Andy was asleep on a kitchen chair and as I walked past him with the catnip in my hand he woke up and came running and meowing. It has a very strong scent (not particularly pleasant to humans, if you ask me! )

I have 4 cats myself, Nutmeg, Winston, Abbey and Simon and they all love catnip it drives them crazy. I sprinkle it on their motor mouse or I will take their play mice and put it in the container of catnip for a few days they love that. It's a riot watching them all play and chase each other. They sound like a herd of elephants all running around.

I have two cats Minnie and Sabrina who are both around a year old and they don't seem to really go for the catnip thing. They play with the ball it's in once in a while but that's it.

All my 4 cats love it, and 3 of them are girls. Of my 3 cats I had previous to this, only the boy liked it. I don't know about any of my other previous cats, because I never bought it for them that I remember (it was my son's idea when I got it a few years ago). My mother bought it once many, many years ago for her two female siamese, one of which ignored it, the other who peed in it! I guess that's why I never bought it before for my cats!

OKay here's the scoop, there's ONE BIG thing you need to know about catnip. it makes males wanna have kittens...yeah. But if there fixed big whoop let them play all they want.

only one of my three cats goes for catnip...one of my cats goes bananas for peppermint! i got one of those aromatherapy pillows, and i can't use it, because he is all over it. the same cat also loves denorex shampoo and the smell of comet cleanser. i have to lock him up when i clean the bathroom!
