From time to time I go to Petfinder and look at the shelter where I got Ripley. I don't know why. It just makes me sad but I do it anyway. It is a kill shelter. There was a remark under one of the dogs that this dog only has a short time because it was a "turn in." It said that when the shelter is full, as it is now, the available room must be given to the strays because they must be held 7 days for claiming before they are PTS.That means a "turn in" has a very short time to find another home.
How in the world can someone turn in a dog knowing that their pet will be one of the first to "go" in this situation?

Then again, owners who turn in their dogs always puzzle me anyway.
I imagine this is the way it is everywhere. Does anyone know?
