    Micah's Gums

Micah has some wierd condition in his gums. Its typical for Aby's to have, but is agrivated by his IBD when its active.

He's been on antibiotics and pred for about three weeks to calm the inflammation, but it hasn't helped all that much. Poor guy.

His vet decided to do a dental cleaning on him and will give him some anti-inflammatory injections soon.

Anyone else with a cat with an inflamed mouth??

Filou has builds tartar very easily and has tooth cleanings every second year. I only noticed inflamed gums when he needs a tooth cleaning. (And he was just checked last week - he had his tooth cleaning last year and is still ok )

I hope Micah gets better after the tooth cleaning.

Hi Kelly. What is his condition called? Georgie has inflamed gums, and it has to do with something called eosinophil, an increased level of something in her body. It came up as an elevated white blood cell. It is usually either an allergic reaction to something or a parasite. I was thinking if Micah has IBD, it might be similar to an allergic reaction....when he last had blood work, did it show an elevated white blood cell? I am having Georgie's teeth cleaned with the next few weeks, and then, will have it retested. Good luck!

Poor Micah! I sure hope those inflammed gums are not too painful. I've no experience with this at all so all I can offer is my prayers and support. Please keep us updated.

I hope that Micah's gum problem can be solved soon. My Sunny is an Aby mix and he had some gingivitus and had to have his teeth cleaned last year. Since then his teeth have been in good shape. Good luck and please keep us updated.

I forget, but I'll ask my vet. I know it starts with an "S"...

Yes, he does have an elevated white blood cell count, partly because of his IBD.

Good luck to Georgie on her dental and blood tests.

I'll pass along your well wishes. Thank you!
