    Pray For Bruno

Bruno is a toy pug 10months old,he was given to me by my sister in law. It all started by me going over to her house for my birthday cake there he was limping because he fell off the bed and fractured his hind leg.She took him to an orthopedic and they put pins in his leg. But while at home he was still limping. The day I went over to her house she was telling me that he was very hard to train because he could not go up or down steps so she had to pick him up and and take him herself she also explained that she has very busy days (two little boys and a husband) so she was hardly home during the day to take him out. Being that I was such a dog lover I said to her if you want I can take him home and try to train him for you so I did, time went by and we spoke on the phone everyday talking about his progress (he was doing well) She decided that I should keep the dog as a gift because of all the attention I could give and she could not. With that she explained that Bruno has a lump on his backside he was born with it, the doctor she had taken Bruno to said that that lump can cause problems for him in the future. Weeks go by I noticed that Bruno's walking was getting bad. (not being able to stand and dragging his hind legs so I decided to bring him into my vets office gave him all of Bruno's medical records including xrays he took a look at them and explained the pins that were put in were fine so he decided to send Bruno to a Neurosurgeon one of the best board certified. Upon taking him there the doctor decided to take an MRI on Bruno so I had to leave him there overnight which made me very sad. When my husband and I left I was crying because in my gut feeling I knew the doctor would be calling me with the worst news, he would call me later that day to let me know the results. I tried to think positive all day. He called and it was the worst I thought it maybe he has Chiari Malformation a complex development disorder involving the caudal brainstem, cerebellum and cranial cervical spinal cord that is found in people. His was so server that he gave me a less than 50% chance surgery would work.(I lost it) the doctor said before we go ahead with surgery lets try some steroid an anti-inflammatory medicine. See Bruno was born with this so he knows nothing but this is normal pain and he lived with it. I was very heart broken and we started his medication I set my alarm for every 12 hours. He did improve but just a little bit and the medicine is causing server diarrhea and now they might have to take him off of them. I just took him out and noticed that he was not doing so great again. He has another appointment with another neurosurgeon on April 1, 2004 for a second opinion and then has another appointment on the 5th with the other neurosurgeon for a recheck. Today I ask you and others to pray for Bruno he is so young he needs a chance for a normal puppy life. Thank You Lady, Petey, Fish, And Bruno most of all Thanks You for your support.

    Thank You

Thank you all so very much, it brings tears to my eyes just reading all the nice things people have to say and are willing to do. Bruno and I are very lucky to have such nice people in our lives. Today I had to bring Bruno back to the specialists, because he has had really bad diarrhea so they took him off the steroid and gave me a very bland diet for him to start. That means that what ever little improvement he had made will be demolished, causing him to fall all the time and not walk very well. Of course I did not handle it very well breaking out into tears this diet that he is on will hopefully stop the diarrhea and then Bruno can go back on the steroid hoping that the steroid was not the cause of his diarrhea. Tomorrow he will be going for his second option on his disease. And then back to the other specialist on the 14th. I am finding this very hard to deal with because I myself had surgery preformed on my lower back spine because my bones back there were breaking down and I had no more suspension so they reconstructed my hole lower back with medal rods and clamps and I still suffer with pain. Well what else can I say but I have to be strong, Again Thank You All for the Support That All of You Are Giving. I'll keep you all posted and I to will pray for all of you and your little furry angels. Attached below is a great picture of him on my Lady the pitbull.

I'm sorry to hear of Bruno's little set back. Steroids are tough drugs for our bodies, and doggie's bodies to handle Hopefully after a bit of a break, he will be able to start on another course. Which Dr. is he going to tomorrow? A second opinion or to consider another option? As hard as it is, try to be strong. The deep love and devotion you feel for your beautiful boy is something we all can relate to. I'm so sorry too, for your own very serious medical issues. I'm sure that having gone through so much yourself, you have a very special empathy for dear Bruno. Go love on your Lady girl and Bruno and try to stay positive. It's hard...I know But tomorrow is a new day and hopefully the visit will bring some encouraging news. I'm thinking of you and Bruno will be saying an extra special prayer for Bruno tonight. {{{HUGS}}} Sandra

That pug face is enough to beak anyone's heart - they have such natural sad-woriied-old-man faces - except when their tingues hang out! Bruno will be in our prayers, as will the doctors, and you.

Welcome to Pet Talk, although it is sad that we are "meeting" you under such sad circumstances. You are indeed this little boy's best chance for a good future and I thank you for all you are doing in his behalf. Bruno's little face is so sweet and it makes me sad to think of the pain he must be in. Please keep us updated and we will pray for him as well. (((hugs)))

    Bruno's second oppion

Hi all thank you all for the wonderful support and prayers everyone is giving Bruno and I. I am glad I joined pet talk I needed to let some of my hurt out and this helps a bit.
Well it's Friday the 2nd and my husband and I took Bruno for his
Second oppion yesterday all is the same Bruno is in really bad shape and that it would not be good for him if I decided to go with surgery he is too little and the scoliosis is so severe the doctor says he could die during surgery. WOOH what a day I had still not facing it I decided now to try acupuncture with of course his meds that the doctor prescribed. He has an appointment on Tuesday the 6th. At this point I am willing to try anything for little Bruno he is only 10 months old he deserves a chance to be a puppy and right now he can't. The doctor also explained to me that when and if the drugs I am giving him stop working Bruno will also become paralyzed in his hind legs and started to go on with putting wheels on him like a wheel chair, I would also have to put diapers on him because he will no longer have control I lost it at that point. I love my little Bruno and I refuse to give up,
So again thank you all for al of your prayers and God bless all of you and your furry little angels. Below a picture of Bruno with Lady my pitbull.

    Love,
    Fran

I'm sorry the news wasn't more encouraging. It must have been a very difficult and emotionally draining day for you all. But bless you for hanging in there, continuing to do all you can for your precious boy. I have no doubt that having his family there by his side to love and cherish every day him brings him much joy and happiness. The picture of Bruno with sister Lady is so, so sweet I'll be hoping and praying that the accupuncture gives him some relief from the pain. No doggie ever had a more devoted and caring mom and dad than Bruno. Please give him a gentle hug and kiss for me. And please keep us updated. {{{HUGS}}} Sandra, Cody and Star
