    Delicacy?

We have crickets in our garage at this time of year. Last night one must have gotten into the house when the door was open and was hopping across the kitchen floor. My two cats, Andy and Trevor, were having a wonderful time playing with it. They would swat it back and forth to each other. It was comical to watch. I decided to leave them to their fun, figuring it would eventually die and I'd pop it in the trash can. Well Andy dealt the death blow and then put the entire thing in his mouth and ate the whole thing!! Wonder why cats eat bugs!!!!!!!!! YUCK!

Many years ago, when I was married, my husband and I lived in a very old house owned by the company he worked for. We had the biggest roaches I have ever seen. Nothing we could do would get rid of them. Our cat at the time, Shrimp Boat, was on constant watch. She would catch those big bugs and carry them around proudly. To my knowledge, she never ate one, but I was glad ot have her around to catch and kill them. I think a cat who is interested in a moving object, insect or otherwise, is one of the funniest things I have ever seen. Great story!

My cats eat bugs all the time. They first swat at them and like beat it up but they always clean up the mess. It is good for them and it's what cats do. It's normal.

I don't have cats, but if it makes anyone feel better, by dog swats, leaps at bees and then sometimes eats them. And God forbid an ant crosses his path..an epicurial delight! YUK!
