Unhappy New Baby - Sad dogs

I had a baby almost 8 weeks ago. My two dogs, 2 years old, are wonderful with my daughter. However, they have been down since she came home. My female has had it the worst. She won't eat breakfast anymore. She would eat it for awhile if I gave it to her. She now skips it most often.
My male has started with this behavior. I think his is more because she is doing it and she is the alpha. I brought her to the vet because I was worried there was something physical going on. The vet feels as if she is just dealing with a new baby being in the house. I expected some change in their behavior, I just didn't think it would last this long. My husband and I are really good about giving each of them cuddle time, just like before the baby came. It doesn't seem to make a difference. I would appreciate any words of wisdom. They are truly our first kids.

If they are both physically healthy, I wouldn't worry too much. You said you are still giving each of them their cuddle time, right? Keep doing that, reminding them they were here first - they're just adjusting to the new member of the "pack," and that does take some time.

Do each of them have any games they like to play? Do they get walks? Keeping things steady on your side may reassure them you love them, but like any "siblings," they will adjust.

When I had my first baby (29 years ago! ) I brought him home to my two toy poodles who were also truly my first kids too so I know exactly what you are saying. They were 3 and 4 years old at the time. I didn't notice a change in their behavior but I did allow them to sit next to me as always while I was feeding him his bottle, etc. and tried to maintain as much of a normal routine as possible. (It's not always easy when you are a new mom!) You don't mention how old your two are and I don't really even know if their age would be a factor. I would say just to try and not worry too much. I am sure it will pass. After all, as the saying goes, when they get hungry enough they will eat. By the way, CONGRATULATIONS!
