    How discouraging :(

    Who remembers this little girl?

She was one of five siblings captured near a dumpster behind a local store in our worst snow storm last winter. I named her Mary Poppins. She was a little spitfire who needed to be toweled to be held for over a week, but when she finaly got used to the idea of humans, became the BEST of the bunch.
She is being returned to One by One

She has just turned 6 months old and should have been spayed (according to the agreement) but she has not been and now she is peeing in the house.
According to the people, a baby has entered the family and THIS is what upset Mary, but most of us feel she has gone into heat and is marking territory.

I will update you more when I know more.

DRATS!!! People are so stupid sometimes

Poor Marry That's horrible what happened to her. I hope that the second time around she will find the most amazing forever home that will give her tons of love and everything wonderful that she deserves.

    Oh I remember that cutie!

How frustrating. She obviously deserves better owners. Hope she finds them soon.

This is so sad. I guess this is the reason why most rescue groups and the Humane Society spay or neuter their animals before they allow the adoptees to take them home. Some people just can't be trusted.
She's a gorgeous girl and deserves a wonderful loving forever home. I sure hope that she finds one. Please keep us updated.

IMO people who can't be trusted to spay their cat, can not be trusted to seek medical care when required either.

I am glad she is being returned to find a proper family.

I guess this is the reason why most rescue groups and the Humane Society spay or neuter their animals before they allow the adoptees to take them home.
The problem is that not all vets (nor rescue groups) believe in the infant neutering. So if ALL cats needed the operation BEFORE adopting, people would not be able to adopt the young kittens that are so desirable.

In our area, out of ALL the many vets, there is probably only one willing to do the surgery on the tiny ones. Most feel it is unsafe and unsound. (if you want to debate this, start your OWN thread)

It's sad when people who adopt pets don't keep their promise. How can they be so cruel and send her back because she's peeing in the house!! I hope they'll never be allowed to adopt another pet!

Mary Poppins looks like a real sweetie, and I hope she'll find a loving family very soon, who understands the responsibility it is to have a cat!

    Argh!

There's a shelter here that passes out vouchers for the spay and nueter but it's all on paper!!
Several years ago, in queenscoopalot's and another friend's neighborhood (we're talking about a 6 block circumfrance or more) there were posters for a male cat to mate with the posting woman's female cat. She wanted her daughter to witness the miracle of birth ON Christmas so started posting around the neighborhood at the end of the summer. Well, come to find out, the female cat had been adopted from the shelter of vouchers (ok, I've said it before, I'll say it now- Northeast Animal Shelter). The woman obviously never honored the voucher. We went to the shelter to report this and they said they'd send the dog officer to her house to remind her of her duty. In the meantime, we tore down every poster we could find! (turned out too, she lived in the same bldg. as our mutual friend!).
Anyway, point being, you're right, it's best if they spay and nueter before hand! Is Mary Poppins a good girl! She adapted to family life ok? She has another chance now and I do wish you the best of luck with placing her! She is gorgeous and you are a true rescue remedy- so to speak!!

I have to agree with Moosmom. Well put!

Things happen for a reason, so maybe this will enable darling Mary Poppins to find a truly DEVOTED guardian who will NOT forsake her!

I'm so sorry she's being returned, but it sounds like its for the best. I'm sure she's still adorable enough to be snapped up right away once she's been spayed. If they couldn't be bothered to spay her in the time they had her, they probably wouldn't take care of any other medical needs in a timely manner either.

But it is sad that people make commitments an then don't honor them.

My foster Bashful was returned in March. The people were having a baby, and the cat kept playing in the crib. Well, when I picked up the cat there was not a cat toy to be found. They complained that Bashful's poop stank. And they're having a baby?? Obviously they've never smelled "baby business".

I'd rather change a hundred litter boxes than a single baby diaper. Let that be on my tombstone.
