My dog runs away 4 to 5 times a day,no matter where she is somehow she gets out. she jumps over our fence and its 6ft. she opens the front and back doors. please what can i do to stop this

Is she an outside dog?

I'm sure that if you keep her inside with the doors locked, she wouldn't be able to open the doors. And if you don't trust her inside, a small room, or crate would be helpful.

she is kind of an outside dog she goes out a lot and gets walked 3 times a day about a half a mile each time. i have tyed the crate thing but it just does not work with her she freaks out about it and i cant really have the doors locked 24.7

Some dogs will freak out if you stick them into a crate. But it does get better. Another pet talker (Tikeyas_mom) has a dog that hated the crate. With some persistence and hard work, her dog was fine with the crate and I think she mentioned seeing Tikeya sleeping in it on her own.

As for the doors, why can't you lock them 24/7? Shouldn't doors be locked anyways? I know around here, our house would be trashed within a couple hours if we didn't lock our doors all the time.

no i live in a cool place we walk in each others houses to get food and drinks and such. we used to put her on a lead in front of the house but someone has been letting the dogs off the leads and out of backyards so we cant do that now so we take her on walks.

If someone has been taking dogs out of back yards and unleashing them then wouldn't it be very unsafe to leave your dog alone outside?

You could get a dog run with a roof, so the dog can't jump out. Something like this. And you could put a lock on it too, if you think someone might steal her while she's outside.

I don't know though, it sounds like maybe you should lock your doors if someone is letting dogs loose though. I know if that happened in my neighborhood I'd be scared for my dog.

Can your dog unlock the doors if he cant keep the doors locked when he is inside. when outside keep on leash
