    Happy Birthday Onyx!

    My sweet big boy, Onyx turns three sometime around now! Not sure of his exact birthday, but it was in early April 2001. Onyx and his littermates were left in a box outside our local humane society's doors when they were about six weeks old. His littermates were all calicos, gingers and other pretty colors. They were adopted quickly. Poor Onyx (or Diamond as he was called then) is solid black and he waited and waited for a home. He was the sweetest kitten ever, but no one wanted him cuz he was "plain" When he was four months old, I agreed to foster him. 72 hours later, I adopted him.

    He's grown into a great, big cat. He weighs just over 18 pounds. I think he's a Maine Coon mix--he has the size and bone structure and is double coated. He's a real sweetheart, loves to snuggle and has a loud purr. Funny thing is despite the big purr, he still squeaks like a tiny kitten when he tries to meow.

    He looks a lot like my Chuck! The coloring is a bit different, but the face is almost identical. Check it out!
