Mousie Orphans

I have accidentally aqquired 12 mice, after my biology class was left with lots of males and females mixed together. My teacher was able to get rid of most of them, but when given the chance to take one, i opted to. I brought her home and gave her a nice private cage and home, but a week or so later she had 12 adorable babies!!

I was extatic, not realizing that I had nowhere to put them all. Pet stores around me wount take them, and I dont want to give them up as food for snakes! My only thought is to let them go upstate, but I cant do that untill it gets warmer, and my room stinks and feeding them is begining to pose a problem! I need to get rid of them now! does anyone have any suggestions of what i can do?

I'd take them if I didn't live all the way in Texas. If we can figure out a way to get them down here, I'll take them all. And, just have a cage for boys and one for girls.

do you have any friedns that may be able to take two??
I knwo that you must split the males and the females up asap, or eles more babies will come!!!

You need to feed them a diet of fruits veggies and other things, look up info on www.google.com.
I suggest cleaning the cage once every two- three days.

maybe the local shelter can take some???

that isnt a good thing to do..
Maybe more people around your school can take some??
I would never want you to resort to letting these little babies go, they are pet mice. not wild mice ok.

Uh...they're DOMESTIC mice, and they will die a horrible death if you let them go somewhere.

When the babies are weaned separate the little boys from the little girls in two different cages so you can keep them all. For the smell house them in a larger cage. I would suggest two 20 gal aqariums. One for the boys and the other for the girls. Put screen tops on the aquariums to allow for ventilation and keep them out of direct sunlight. Fill the tanks with about 3-4 in of shredded aspen bedding. Watch for leaks in the water bottles. And regularly clean the tanks. Follow all these suggestions and the smell shouldn't be a problem. Mice eat a variety of things. A mixture of lab block, hamster/gerbil food and fresh foods 2-3 times a week shouldn't be a problem to afford. Mice can eat anything that is healthy for humans. So just give them a little of what you had for dinner that night.
