Considering a New Pet *really happy*

I have already posted this in General but I want to get some more replies I have been talking to my mom for the past few months about responsibility. Im considering a new pet. A rodent But I dont know what I would get.................. I could get... Any suggestions? We have had many hamsters that were EXTREMLY well taken care of. But im thinking of trying something new lol. What do you think? Oh and it wouldent be right now because I have a habit or researching ALOT before I get a pet. Even when we got Taffy I did research and we had dogs before. lol my mom said it was a good thing!! *off topic*

lol yes so far im having a debate with myslef between Hamster, Rat and Hedgehog.

As far as choosing a pet between hamster, rat, and, hedgehog..... what exactly are you wanting out of a pet? If you want a cuddler, a hedgehog may not be the #1 choice. I like hamsters a lot, but, I would definitely get a rat. I've had multiple rodent type pets, and, rats have been the best so far. I did love my guinea pig, though, with all my heart. But, they are very timid at first, and, not as trainable (as far as I know). But, they are lots of fun. Mine, Angus, used to run around like a little bucking horse (I think they call the action popcorning), and, he would just pop up in one spot. I have him on video when he was just about five or six months old, and, it still cracks me up to watch him!

I think that's a great idea! They are such great little pets. Hold them ALL THE TIME! They will love you and be so sweet to you. Let us know what you get and what you name them.

You need a pair of MALE ratties. My males are real laid back and love to cuddle, but they are still playful and curious at times. Cuddling with my female rats is out of the question, I would have to pull them out from under my bed, dresser, and desk first- since they are away exploring every nook and cranny.

I def. think a pair of fat squishy boys is what you need!

definitely get rats!!! I loveeee my rats!

I have 6 of them, 3 males, and 3 females....

Most males do love to cuddle more, so if your wanting a cuddly, lap pet, go with males... Girls like to be all over the place and explore everything!

THANKS EVERYONE!! Im gonna talk to my mom again and she told me that the best thing would be to get a hamster. She doesnt want a pair of rats and from what I understand its better to have 2. But mabey she will pull threw

I talked to my mom AGAIN!! She said that if I wanted a rat I would only be able to get 1 What should I do?

You have to tell her how rats need to have at least another playmate, because they are very scocial creatures.
