few pics of my temporary residents

These are a few of the dog team we are taking care of.

This is where we dropped the dogs out of the truck when they first arrived and where the wolf attacked Diesel and Hobo.

This is one of the Coonhounds, Red. Lots of musher run them now, usually mixed with huskies. They are incredible pullers.

This is little Sprite. She is so tiny, but is apparently a great lead dog. She's one of my favorites. She's a sweetie.

This is Stuart--also my hubby's name.

This is Hobo, before the attack! He doesn't look quite so handsome right now!

    They are adorable!!!

Forgive my ignorance, but is it normal for the dogs to be as skinny as Red? It is almost hard for me to look at how skinny he is. But I am used to lazy dogs who lay on the couch all day

I was going to say the same thing. He looks starved. They are all cute and I hope the injured ones are doing well.

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

About Red, yeah I was wondering too, he´s so skinny but maybe it´s normal for him?

I´ve seen in internet sledding dog photos and some of them are skinny too...

It is normal for sled dogs to be much skinnier than pets. Their metabolism is reved right up. Most mushers think my dogs are fat! Trust me Red and his buddies eat alot! They are well fed.

What beautiful pups. Sprite is just breathtaking and I love her name!

Red looks almost like he has lab in him too in that picture, but I'm guessing the coloring just makes me think that. He sure is a cutie.

Diesel and Hobo continue to be in my prayers.

Pretty sure Red is pure Coonhound. There are two coonhounds out there--Red and Elvis and one cross, Copper. They are lovely dogs, great temperments, very friendly, but dear doG are they noisy! The three hounds all get put back in the dog truck at night just to shut them up! They don't mind though, they like the dog boxes.

Thats what I figured! Thanks for clearing that up. I was just curious because I know nothing about sled dogs.

Aww they are gorgeous! Sprite has such pretty eyes.

Are you sure that Red is a coonhound? You mean redbone coonhound right? Because he looks more like a lab mix to me.

    This is a redbone pic.

I dont think they look skinny at all, but thats probibly because my dogs are also athletes and are kept in top condition for running the dogs are not starving, they are the perfect weight for an athlete.

    they sure are cute!
