Help please...I'm having a brain fart

Okay, I cannot remember for the life of me how to find the height of a right triangle. I am assuming it is just finding the length of the perpendicular side, but how?
I know two of the sides, but I don't know the other. Help! lol

It's been to long since I've been in school. I don't remember. I'll ask my husband when he comes back. He uses math at work, so he remembers all that stuff.

    Thank you Wolfie!

    I really hate math.
I need the formula for a Lab Report I need to do for my science class. Yuck.

If you still want to know you would modify the Pythagorean theorem.

I can't really make mathimatical symbols here, but it is a sqaured plus b squared = C squared.

So the height is generally referd to as b. That being the case you need to solve for that.

    The formula would be:
b = the square root of( a squared minus c squared)

It is really hard to write out if you can't use the proper symbols.

Here is a link to a page that will give you the proper formula:
    http://www.webmath.com/cgi/rtri.cgi?c=5&e=&b=%3F&d=&a=4

    I hope that helps.

    Showoff!!!
Of course you'd know that one! Thank goodness I have absolutely no use for that information in my life - and better yet - nobody has asked me that!!!

    LOL!!

Actually believe it or not I have actually had to use some of those functions after I got out of school. I have not had to use them for years, but they did come in handy.

Now, I did have to refresh my memory in order to answer it. I hope that makes you feel a little better.

LOL! Of course you aren't! We all have brain-farts at times. I didn't see that you figured it out. Shows that my mind is completely elsewhere today.
