    Need Help Please.

I would appreciate it if anyone could give me a good site that has information about Feline Acne. I've tried and can't seem to find anything. I think my baby Chipper has it under his chin. I will be bringing him to the vet on monday, but would like to do some reading on it.
Thank you for any help you are able to give me.

Do a search in pet talk we had a thread a couple weeks ago on acne. Try a word search. I have never had to deal with it.

    Acne...

Calvin has a tinish bald spot on his chin that I thought was acne. I understand that using plastic bowls is a major factor. Does your kitty eat out of plastic? Other than that I'm not sure. Sorry. Best wishes.

I use hydrogen peroxide on a cotton ball.

You can use the stridex medicated pads too, but I try to stay away from medicated things, in case they have a reaction to it.

I have a foster right now that has a big black spot on her chin, and she won't even let me get near her to put the cotton ball on it.

Snowy loved when I rubbed his chin with the ball, the smell of the peroxide didn't bother him either. His is all cleared up.

Corinna: Thank you for your input, but it wasn't neccessary to do a search as Kim posted some good links.

Kitten645: No we don't use plastic bowls, never have. Their food is in a ceramic bowl and the water is in a stainless steel one. Thank you very much for your best wishes.

Kim: Thank you so much for those sites. They were a great help. It definitely looks like Baby Chipper has acne.

Rosethecopycat: Thank you very much for your response. I will try the hydrogen peroxide today.

    Hi Lorraine,

Bob had kitty acne once. I took him to the vet and they gave me some some cream, I can't remember what was. They also gave me some thing like stridex(sp?) pads. They actually want to shave his chin, but he was having none of that. I talked to the vet tech and she said that some people just use stridex pads.

That actually did not work, the first time it all looked good and seemed to clear up and then came back. The second time we could not get it to go away with the cream and the pads.

The vet then gave us some antibiotics and after about 2 weeks it clearer right up and has not reoccured in about a year.

I can get the names of everything that we used if you would like. Just let me know.

I know that it looks and feels bad but from what the vet told me it is just like a bad case of acne on a human. So while it is annoying it is not particually painful.

Good luck in treating Chipper. I know that he will be just fine.

Give the the little boy a few scratches for me.

Thanks Bryan for the information. I put some peroxide on it today and Chipper was such a good boy about it, but I will be bringing him to the vet on monday to make sure that is what it is and nothing else. Better safe than sorry. I'll let you know what happens okay.
I will definitely give him some scratches for you and i'll add a few kisses also.
