    Sledding pics...

    Taken earlier today,

This one is about 4 kilometres from my house, that's the first chance I had to safely take my hand off the handlebar and pull out the camera!

Dogs from the leaders back are Pingo & Raven, Antare & Earle, Chase and Founder.

Taking a break at the half way mark. They did 20km today and normally don't need a break, but it was way too warm for them today. I had to switch leaders just before this so that's Raven in wheel (closest to the sled) with Chase and Founder moved up front with Pingo.

This my absolute favorite spot on this trail. I call it the enchanted forest. It's always beautiful, calm and sunny in there!

This is on the way home, running across a small lake. The black dog running loose with us is Daisy. She's my neighbor's dog, but she might as well be mine. She spends more time with us than she does at home. (she's not abused, just bored, she's an only dog)

And finally, this is on the way home. This part of the trail is actually on my property. We are about 500 yards from the dog yard.

I'm jealous too! So beautiful where you live. And I know it's a lot of work with all those dogs but I can only imagine the joy that they give you. That sledding must be an amazing experience. One day, I plan to experience it somehow. Maybe on an Alaskan cruise or something. Loved the pics!

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Again, I have to say I can only imagine the wonderful, wild, free feeling of being out there with the dogs. The sense of closeness to the pack must be indescribable. Just absolutely gorgeous pictures.

How is Founder doing? I remember your post when you first got him as a foster and he was kind of jittery, or at least was in the house.

Founder is doing well. He's still quite nervous in new situations, but once he gets used to something he calms down. He's quite affectionate and very sweet--gives lots of kisses. He's a great sled dog. I usually run him in wheel, but he's got definate leader potential, just needs to gain some confidence and master his commands. He knows most of the commands, but he prefers to take a trail he's been on before.
