I love the pic of Stubby and Peanut Butter! I didn't realize how much a like they really look!
And I was going to start a thread on this but haven't had a chance yet. I was reading a book on different cat breeds and it mentioned that Norwegian Forest Cats have that "ruff" or "mane" we were talking about the other day, and it actually fills out from about November to May! Which is just what we were talking about the other day with Stubby's "ruff" and how it fills out in winter!
Whereas Maine Coones don't necessarily have this "ruff" since their hair is shorter towards their heads and progressively gets longer ending in a very pouffy (sp?) tail. So I'm thinking that Stubby and Peanut Butter and Peanut and the others that were mentioned in this other thread are really part Norwegian Forest Cat instead of part Maine Coone.
Another thing it mentioned that was different between the two was that on the Norwegian Forest cat, their back legs are longer than their fronts, so it looks like their butt is higher than their heads. Maine Coones have a "level back" it said, so that would be another way to tell. Peanut's butt is higher, she gets the "ruff" in winter and she has the white tufts and toesies that they also said were quite common in NWFC's.
So what do you think? Maine Coone's or Norwegian Forest Cat's?
I think a good example of a Maine Coone is Zippy Cat's K'Cee, and I think a pefect example of a Norwegian Forest Cat is Stubby and Peanut Butter!
