A call to the emergency vet...

Another reason (hey am I up to 500 yet?) why my sister drives me insane.

They came over tonight to visit. We ate dinner around 6 pm. Apparently her husband got out some pills for her to take (3) and set them by her plate.

About a half hour ago my mom found 2 of the pills, but not the third one. My sister doesn't remember if she took it or not. Ok yeah, there's 3 dogs and a 3 year old child running around the house...sure, just don't even pay attention!

We don't know if one of the dogs or Savannah may have taken the pill. So, a call to poison control and to the emergency vet. The vet didn't really know how that particular medication would effect a dog (something for blood-pressure I think?). They gave us a number to a Poison Control for dogs but it's $50 just for the phone call.

Everyone is acting totally fine. Sydney and Nebo were rough housing just a few minutes ago. So we're just going to keep a good eye on them for now (Nebo will be sleeping on my bed as usual, and Reggie/Sydney will sleep in my parents room).

Oh, and my sister and her family haven't seen Sydney in over a month (Syd's their dog, she's staying with us right now though). I swear within 10 minutes of their arrival they had her locked in the crate, and she wasn't even doing anything!

Well, all the doggies are fine.

Nebo woke me up at 5 a.m. to throw up, but you don't even want to know what object he threw up. *gags* I don't think he ate the pill, he's fine...he just somehow ate something really really really nasty.

Glad everyone is ok. Wow, the vet had no idea about the drug and wanted you to call Poison control for $50? You would think he would have some other resources to give you some advice.

I agree with Sue. Once when Star ate some berries off a shrub I thought might be poisonous, I freaked and immediately called that poison control number. They kept me hold (as I'm waiting for an answer) while they cleared my credit card! They said she'd be fine. But, I then called my vet anyhow. They knew right away what the plant was and that she'd be ok...Next time I'll call them first! I'm so glad to hear all is well...sorry for the yukies, though, poor baby!

Glad to hear all the dogs are okay!

I think it is riduclous that they chrage so much for a call to poison control...There is a second number you can call, and yes it still costs tthe same, but it is billed toyour phone, so you at leat save the time of fumbling for a credit card. It is 1-900-680-0000

What a relief that all of the dogs and Savannah are okay. (What a pretty name) How irresponsible of her.
