    my beautiful family!

This is my son with the dogs, two days ago. I just love the expression on Max's face in the first one, don't you? That's him - my big dumb dog.

My son is so good with the dogs. I'll bet he'll have dogs when he grows up, too - and I hope I have emphasized the importance of getting them from the shelter enough. My goal is for every one of my children to adopt dogs from the shelter. Two down two to go - not too bad so far!

I'd tell Kyler you said he's handsome, but he'd turn twenty shades of red and then go up to his room and hide. hehe. They're so funny at that age! I really appreciate the compliments though!

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.
    Join me on this flight.
Paws of love that follow me.
In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

He really is good with them. He takes them out and back in every morning and evening, and never complains about it - even when it's very cold out. That's pretty good for a 13-year-old, I think.

That's great! You certainly have a right to be proud of him. I know I feel proud of him for his responsible animal care and I'm not even related!

A very handsome crew (both 2 and 4 legged). I'm glad your son has shown such responsibility taking care of the dogs. Yeah for him!!!

He sure has learned a lot. I asked him what kinds of dogs he'd have when he grew up and he said "Mutts, but I'll have a fence around the whole yard so I won't have to walk them out to the kennel all the time, and they need to either be calm or a lot smaller than Max because he pulls too hard." So I know he'll choose very carefully and he'll also know that pets are a lifetime responsibillity.

He says he wants a dog more interesting than Jake but calmer than Max.
