My Mom and Dad's Kitty***Pics***

Yay! I'm so happy. I actually have some pictures to post in the Cat Section. What a special treat. We went to my parent's for Christmas and I was able to get some shots of their cat, Niki. Niki is one very spoiled kitty and I think she is one Cool Cat! My parents travel quite a bit and I get to watch Niki while they are away. The last time she stayed with us for close to 3 months and she was the perfect little houseguest. I love the way she curls up on my lap or beside me when I am watching tv or when I am on the computer she will curl up on the desk beside the monitor. She has the softest coat. My parents have about 23 acres and sometimes we take walks around the property and Niki has been known to follow right along with us. She makes me think of a little puppy tagging along. I've even seen her have her little tongue hanging out while she is trotting along with us. Once I remember her getting tired and laying down so my dad scooped her up and carried her back home like a little baby. So cute! Since we have Katie now my folks are worried about us watching Niki when they go on their next trip and they are not for sure what they are going to do. Niki and Katie have only met once and it was very brief because Niki got frightened and ran and hid. Katie has not been around any cats and I don't know how she would behave. I think I should take Katie out to their house some more to see if the can learn to socialize. If anyone has any suggestions I would love to hear them. We will figure out something and make sure Niki is well taken care of. I'm sure my son would love to go and stay at their house and do some cat sitting. That might be the answer. Ok, I've rambled on long enough...Now, I'd like for you all to meet Niki!

She is gorgeous!! I love black cats, they typically have great personalities.

I don't really have any suggestions on what to do to help socialize Niki and Katie. I do think letting them visit each other often for brief moments will help. Just make sure you have Katie on a leash so she doesn't lunge at Niki. Good luck.

What a great looking kitty. I like black kitties too. Niki sounds like she has a great personality also.

I have never had to socialize a dog and a cat. I am sure that introductions on Niki's turf would be good. Hopefully, someone else will have better ideas.

Oh she does. They even seem to have the same little white patch on their chest.

The white patch is what caught my attention One difference is that Cleo's tail is very short (3 inches)

Niki is a beautiful cat!

I think you are doing right, taking Katie around Niki, and letting them to get used to each other. Niki should feel less fear in her own home, so let her get used to Katie there. Watch them closely. Then when you do have Niki over maybe they will get along better.
