Thursday #34- A very special Xmas episode.

Hey Merry Xmas to everyone all across the world!!!

I really hope Santa brings everyone what they want!

But most of all I hope everyone has a year of peace, prosperity, goodwill and most of all health!!

Since everyone is out and about I think we should keep things simple......

The price of a 'drink' this week is a Xmas story..
a present you got that you passed on or
one that you still laugh about, or something you are still trying to figure out WHY you got it..........

So, just stick your head in for a moment and visit.....We'd like to see you!
    -----------------------------------

    What do I WANT?????

    This year for Christmas
    There's something I'd really like
So if you're up there somewhere, Santa
Please don't bring me another bike
I don't need any ugly sweaters
And I don't play much basketball
    But there's something kinda special
That I want most of all

I want an alien for Christmas
Bring me an alien this year
I want a little green guy about 3 feet high
With 17 eyes who knows how to fly
I want an alien for Christmas this year

He can live in the bathtub
So don't worry about a thing
And I'll take him out for walks
When it gets nice up in the spring
    I'll always keep him company
    He'll never be alone
And we can hang around the house all day
    And watch the Twilight Zone

I want an alien for Christmas
Bring me an alien this year
I want a little green guy about 3 feet high
With 17 eyes who knows how to fly
I want an alien for Christmas this year
I want an alien for Christmas this year

Well, I wish I was out and about but I'm stuck here working....

Anyway my Christmas story happened when I was about 7 or 8 yrs old. Dad had an old tape recorder and he used to tape Christmas morning present opening every year. Those precious tapes are still stored in Mom's basement.

Anyway we were not poor but we weren't rich either. We always had food on the table and a few presents under the tree. That year Dad had a talk with us that Santa may not bring everything we wanted but he would make sure that Santa would leave at least one thing under the tree. That made me sad because the only thing I wanted was a baby buggy for my dolly. I hope and prayed for weeks that it would be sitting under the tree.

That morning, it was under the tree and I ran into the living room screaming "My baby buggy, my baby buggy!!!!! Santa brought me my baby buggy!!!!" I remember that moment to this day and a few years ago I listened to it on tape. I protected that baby buggy for years and in it was my precious Betsy Wetsy doll.

So that's it. Not very funny or interesting, but it's MY story.

Can I please get a Spanish Coffee???
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

I promise a Christmas story later, but may I have a Chai Tea now as I set about wrapping presents? I'll sing carols later, too ...

I think it was a very good story Slick, fact is it was a wonderful story. I can't think of any stories, about a really memorable Christmas I had as a child, It is just too sad, so I will have to think of another story, and you guys don't want to get me started, I ramble too much, I think you shoud give me a drink just to keep my mouth shut. Better for you guys!! Hurry put tape on my mouth and leave a little hole big enough for a straw and feel very lucky!!!!

Thank You, kittycats_delight for my new siggy!!!

My christmas mermory is the 1st one that hubby Tim and I had together married.
I was 18 and he was 22 we didn't have much money. I made him a western shirt and he gave me a card to be redeemed on the 26th for a ride to Everrett to pick up my presant. I was very nervoius as to what it was. we had a lovly dinner at my folks then looked at the lights. The 26th we left on our trip to get my presant we pulled up in front of a furnature store and he had the clerk have a big bow on a beautiful rocking chair. I just this year gave it to my daughter to use in the future to rock her children in. I have spend many hours rocking my children , neices, nephews and freinds kids in that chair . My children are very aware of the love of the that chair. He had sold some very specail things to buy it for me.
I am a nut for rocking chairs, I had been looking and dreaming of a chair for our little 2 room apartment for a year. It would be 2 more years before it would be used for rocking babies.
I have made sure it was the first item unpacked everywhere we moved. Infact it was the only peice of furnature I brought with us to Montana all other things Except my maple table were left be hind. It was even used at the campground we stayed at for 2 months til we found a house.
I now have a replacement I got at an auction It s a 50 year old oak wide rocker. Used a lot for furbabies for now.
Just the look on hubbys face knowing he'd gotten me the thing I wanted most is the thing I cherish the most.

    wow,

I have the feeling that this is going to be a humdinger of a thread!!!

    Slick,

    Spanish Coffee!

    and a bottle for Betsy!
    DONE!

    Karen,

You get a pass on the story........

    A Chai Tea for you...

LOL, I am enamoured with Nepal and always think a good
Chai Tea should have a dollop of Yak Butter in it....I'll put it on the side.

    It's Xmas, Tray.....
There are times that a story is the best gift of all.

    get with the program!!!

    Corrina,

Like a fireplace, every home should have a rocking chair-
and a mom to rock all the babies to sleep...

    great story!

I don't think my fondest memory is of what I received - it is how Christmas unfolded at our house when I was a little girl.

We lived in a two story house in Ohio. I lived with my Aunt and Uncle and two cousins, along with my Dad and older brother.

The Christmas tree was never, ever put up until Christmas Eve and long after I was sound asleep. I highly suspect my Uncle and Dad went out and shopped for a bargain late Christmas Eve. Money was always tight.

Christmas morning I was not allowed to go down stairs until my brother was ready. Then he led me downstairs with his hands covering my eyes so I couldn't see the tree or presents. We would get to the bottom of the stairs, take a hard right and go into the kitchen. We all had to have breakfast first before we opened our presents. Boy, adults are such a pain when you are a little kid.

What I do remember is being able to just barely see lots of colored lights.....through my brothers fingers it was like MAGIC.

I don't think I have ever told him that story ------hmmm, I think it is about time that I do.

I am busy wrapping presents and need to get some cooking done.....so I think I will just pass on a drink right now. I will be back later.

Just taking a break from wrapping presents to pop in and say hi!

I got some great presents over the years and always had a good time with family and friends. Maybe the best gift eer was theone my husband and I got for ourselves three years ago...our Sadie girl!

One of the funniest things I did on Christmas was when I was a senior in high school. There was an ongoing Toilet papering war between my best friend and I wth antoher friend. Christmas Eve was really snowy and our parents didn't want us driving alone, so her dad drove us out to this other friend's house inthemiddle of the night to deliver a snowman we had made from TP. He took a polaroid picture of us with it on their front porch and once it was developed, we left it in a plastic baggie with the snow man. My friend was so upset we got away with this cause he had slept intheliving room trying to prevent us from getting away with something

    Corrina,

    Peppermint tea!

    DONE!

    Gini,

Make sure you pass that on....

    CM,

My best memories are of staying up late during Christmas break and having mom cook. We would stay up late and watch old movies...

    LOL,

I do remember one year, it was a lean year and my parents were kinda scraping by.....I think all we got was a candy cane filled with M&M's and a pillow!! I was terribly disppointed back then but now I see that one of the most important things to have........A place to rest your weary head

4 catnip teas for the cat kids please, and a cherry vanilla coke for me!
Since I spend most of my holidays with just the cats, my Christmas memories are any that have my parents in them.

Here is my wish this year:
Please, if you are lucky enough to have family to visit and/or fight with, know how very lucky you are! Fight with them if you must but always, always love them. A blink of an eye can alter your whole life forever.

On a happier note: we always hung really long stockings: green striped for me and red striped for my brother. We always got hard Christmas candy in them that stuck to the stockings, nuts, and an orange in the toe. There's nothing like fuzzy Christmas candy!!!

Hi everyone, and Merry Christmas. I have just one more present to wrap, then some veggies to cut up for a veggie platter, and I think I'm done. oh, and a couple of loads of laundry, oh, and I have to get ready to fly down to Texas for my brother's wedding on Saturday. My Idaho brother is driving here as we speak and he'll be house-sitting for us.

I don't have a single Christmas that really seems to stand out. I do remember the general excitement and anticipation of the big day. I can remember my mom planning on entertaining the aunts and uncles and cousins. I can remember making hors-dourves with cheese-whiz and ritz crackers - did those ever seem high class .

A spanish coffee sounds great right about now. I need to be at my brother's house in a few hours and that would do the trick.

Merry Christmas everyone - peace and goodwill to you and your familes and your fur and feather kids.

These are not the droids you were looking for

    MOFF,

    Thanks,
Seems like since the 'glue of our family'(my dad)
passed away we have been a little lethargic about
holidays......I will go to my sister's house tonight.
When ever I see those red and white round peppermint candies I think of dad....sometimes I think that's what killed him.

When we would go to a restaurant he would snag a handful from the bowl next to the register, they would end up in the corner of his pockets, fresh out of the laundry...that really PISSED my mom off....

    BTW,
I always thought the orange was a HUGE callus!!!

4 CNTs for the boy and a CVC for you!!!
    DONE!!

    Catland,

There are times that Ritz and Cheez whiz is a snack fit for a King.....and aunts uncles and cousins too!

    Spanish Coffee?

    DONE!

    Here's a Christmas funny...

I HATE waiting to GIVE gifts.... I find more fun in giving than getting. My sis is the opposite... she can't wait to open them.

A week or so ago, I told my sis that for $5.00 she could open one of her presents. "Why do I have to give you $5?" My response, "Well, someone has to help pay for it!" So she goes and gets the $5 and I point to a present. She digs it out from underneath the tree and then takes off.

    Next Day:
Mom, Sis, and I are sitting around the table talking. I asked sis if she opened her present. "Yes and thank you!"
    "What'd ya get?" asked Mom.
"The Now 14 cd." Mom gets a puzzled look on her face, turns to me and asks, "Was I with you when you got that?" I smiled and nodded my head 'yes.'
Sis giggles, "Did you get me the same one?"
    "I'm not sure.... I think... I think I did!" ... silence... "HEY! *I* bought that cd, didn't I?"
"Yup! I didn't say she could open one of mine, I just said she could open one."
"TONYA! You just scammed your sis out of her five dollars!"
Then Sis ever so lovingly adds, "Don't worry mom, I used the lunch money you gave me!"
