    Shelters or Rescues in Montreal

My friend lives in Montreal Canada --
He really wants a dog but his parents won't allow him to get a large one. I'm trying to get him to get on from a shelter or rescue, rather than spending tons at a breeder.

I told him he should go to the shelter every once in a while, just to check out all of the dogs and see which fit for him and his family, whether it be a mix breed or not.

He wants a yorkie or pug, and i'm trying my best to educate him on dogs.

So, are there any shelters or maybe Pug or Yorkie resuces in that area?

If you have an suggestions/help -- please tell me.

Well as far as I know, there aren't any rescue groups for specific breeds over here. Our only rescue options were the local shelters and Petfinder (and we didn't know about that then). My only suggestion for him would be to continue checking back the shelters and maybe trying Petfinder. There is this organization I just recently found out about: http://www.animalrescuenetwork.org/

Those sites Katz posted are good too. Good luck to your friend. Wish I could be of more help.

Here's the pug club of Canada site:
    http://www.pugcanada.com/
There is a link to rescue on it. Pugs aren't in desperate need of being rescued though, there aren't many in rescues here, and the ones that are find homes quickly. Still it may be an idea to gt his name in.
Also here's a link to contact info for the pug dog club of Ontario, which is a little closer to him, kind of.

Here's the link to Canadian Yorkshire Terrier rescue.

    Hope they help!
