    Cricket

Here's chubby Cricket, my polydactyl tabby/tuxie. Her tail had to be amputated due to hyperesthesia. Some neurological twitch caused her tail to bother her, so she chomped on it. Unfortunately, the only way to get her to stop chewing her tail was to remove it.

Cricket was a backyard rescue--she arrived in my yard with her mom when she was two or three months old, and I ended up adopting both. She's grown up to be the "enforcer" around the house and keeps everyone in line. But mostly, she likes to show off that substantial belly.

The missing tail hasn't caused her any problems--I occasionally catch her balancing on top of the curtain rod. Of course, with extra toes maybe it's easier for her to hold on.
