Any knowledgable computer people out there?

ARG! As I'm typing this, the computer is set to 640X480 at 16bits for color. It's driving me crazy! I tried setting it back to 1024x768 and 256 colors but after I click apply, it says to reset. Once it starts running again, it just returns to the 640x480 screen and 16bits. I've reseted it sooo many times. I don't know exactly what happened but it started when I accidentally pushed the reset button then it loaded like this. I reseted it, and it went to that list where you have the option to choose safe mode or normal mode. I chose normal mode. It still stayed like this. So then I reseted and chose safe mode. It STILL was like this except it said safe on the corners. So now, everything's running fine with the exception of color and screen resolution. It's driving me crazy! I really hope this is another one of those things where I leave it alone for a couple hours, come back and it's all fixed somehow. Any ideas on what this could be anyone?

If you haven't rebooted or powered off your machine, you may need to shut your system down and restart it. Once the system is running again, if the screen is 640X480 try setting it to the 1024x768 setting. Once it accepts that setting restart your computer to be sure its set as the normal boot setting.

Tried it. I turned it off last night around 12 and now it's 7am. Still not working...I guess I'll have to bring it in to the computer shop.

    Have you changed monitors?
If its an older monitor, it may not be able to run 1024x768, or it may be not running at 100%, have you tried a different monitor?

Had the monitor you are using worked at 1024x768 setting before? I am trying to find what has changed since it last showed 1024x768.

Do you know how to check the settings and change it to 1024x768? see what setting its at now, try to change it, saving the change and restarting your computer

Thanks, but I've fixed it since my last post.

To end any curiousity, this is a fairly new monitor...probably year old? It was set on 1024x768 before going weird. I fiddled with some settings in control panel>network and got it running again.
