    Doors - Push or pull?

When your cat is trying to get to other side of a door, does he/she know whether to push or pull?

For a long time Fister could only open the doors which had to be pulled. There he went, with his "little" cute paw opening it by pulling. He had no idea you could also push them open from the other side! I bet some of you wish you had cats who could only get through from one side! LOL!

Some doors are heavier than others, in our case, it's the kitchen door leading to the yard!! This one he has managed to get open both if he wants to come in or wants to go out!

    How about yours?

Tubby knows how to push and pull. I think it's cute too when they try and pull with their cute pawsies. Especially when it's just ever so slightly ajar and they have to "work" it to get it open enough to get the paw between the door and the door jamb. That is just so darn cute when you're on the other side and you finally see this black paw reach through the crack.

Peanut on the other hand, being a bit of a blonde (oops, sorry to all the blondes out there) only knows how to push. Her daddy says she doesn't need to be smart, she just needs to sit there and look cute and the door will be opened for her (by a very well trained humand I'm sure).

My cats don't do anything except sit there and meow and wait for me (the servant) to open the door.
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

When the door is open just the slightest bit then F+T know how to get through: pushing and pulling, even heavy doors. When it is closed only Tigris can open it!

Yep Bastet knows that doors are push or pull. If she can't open a door she will throw a tantrum *meowing loudly and hissing and spitting at the door before going away.

Storm knows how to push and pull doors open. I've even seen him in action when he pulled my roommates bedroom door open. He stood up and wrapped his paws around the door knob and turned it and then pushed it open the rest of the way. I think Sunny, Sky, and Cirrus only know how to push doors open. At least I hope that's all they know.

Storm can also open up the screen door to my balcony but he knows he's not supposed to so he's been very good about this lately.

Cubby only knows how to push. I laugh alot when I see him going up to a door and pushing it open with his nose. It's so cute.

Well....I did a test with the E's. Eddie can push and pull. Edwina's preferred method is "momma....NOW!" She will reach up toward the handle in case I'm very dense and not sure of her desire.

    Juni pushes and pulls.

Naomi, J's mom, could open doors by jumping on the handle - about 1 m high.

Pichu pulls and pushes, but, mostly, he's there just waiting for Juni to open the door.

Tex can push and pull doors...Georgia can only push doors, and the rest of them? They cry until I open them.

I found cutting out the lower corners on doors helps all of us!
