    Too much food???

Ok Simba gets fed Pedigree small Crunchy Bits. We have it in a big tub and we use a small land o lakes butter tub to scoop it out.. he gets half the butter tug in the morning and a whole one around 6 or 7.. Is that too much?? My mother says i feed him too much but I dont this so.. he is over weight though and he does get exercised every day he either goes for a run or we play cathch.. please tell me what you think.. thanks in advance

Basim, I can't remember Simba's age or weight, but I would just go by the directions on the dog food. Different foods have different measurements. For instance, I use Flint River Ranch, and my dogs get less of it than they did of Iams or Pedigree. Next time Simba goes to the vet, ask him if Simba is too fat. I can tell that mine are overweight right now. Its been so cold this winter that they haven't had enough exercise.
By the way, I think Simba looks great! If you can feel his ribs without squeezing his back, he's probably fine, but ask to be sure. I'll bet your vet would tell you if he thought Simba needed to diet.
    Good luck!

Try using a regular measuring cup to calculate what you are actually giving Simba. Also don't forget to account for the treats. Those calories can add up fast.

This winter has really packed on some pounds in our house, but I don't know, Logan, South Carolina? Florida? Ha...you guys have to come up with a better one than that. A "cold winter" is reserved for us northerners!

    Rachel,
Believe me, we have had some COLD weather, even in SC. Of course we just get the cold, not the lovely snow to go with it. Just in case you need proof....last month's natural gas bill for the furnace was $310. That is three times more than the highest bill I have ever had. Between gas prices and the cold weather, we have been zapped!
Remember...to us southerners, two nights in a row, below freezing, is a winter to remember! And its been far worse than that this year. Will admit, I had the windows open and it was over 70.

Do what Dad does for "cheap heat" - Grab the closest Dawg and toss it on you lap or under the covers and *snuggle* . Works in our house! ~ Cinder

    Cinder,
Thanks for the advice. I can only imagine how bad the bill would have been if I didn't have 4 furry friends to keep my daughter and me warm! Maybe I should get more??
