Thread: Kits first visit to the outside world.

Kits first visit to the outside world.

We decided to educate the kittens about the outside world, though they won’t be taking unsupervised visits outside, until after they have been altered and grown a bit more.

I bought two Rabbit harness, as the only cat harness at the petshop, had big metal buckles that looked uncomfortable.

So I fitted Bramble with a blue harness and Tigs with a red harness and with Steve and a camera, we went outside.

We only had time to take a couple of photos and sadly the first has me in the middle (I usually manage to scoot out of the frame.)

They really liked the hedges, shame as it would have been easier to photograph them in the middle of the garden.

Milo came to have a sniff to check out that these creatures are the same inside monsters !!!

Oh, that looks like they really enjoyed their trip to the outside!

Good idea about the rabbit harness btw!

I'm so glad you're introducing them to the outside slowly, and with harnesses. Kittens are so unpredictable that I could just see one of them running off and giving you all sorts of grief until you found it again. But they really looked like they were enjoying themselves! And it's great that you got in the pic. Now you have a picture of yourself with them when they are kittens. Trust me, you will be happy you got that picture when they are older.

I for one am glad you are in the picture. I just LOVE to meet people so I can "see" who I am talking to.

The kittens are so cute, and poor Milo, probably thought the outside was "safe: from these monsters.

Great pics. I'm also glad that you're finally in a picture. You should add this to the thread "Self Portraits" that Debbie,T&P's Mom, has started in cat general. Tigs and Bramble sure look cute in their rabbit harnesses.

PIF, these pictures are great and I enjoyed it very much to witness Bramble and Tigs first encounter with the "Outside World"...
I remember many years ago when my sister brought home her first kitten...at that time there weren't any harnesses available at the Petshop...so we tried to fix one ourselves...and then happened what must have happened...Moni escaped from the harness...she roamed the whole garden and we didn't dare to move...it didn't take her long to return to us...having this mieschievous look on the face...

Your cat family is always a pleasure to meet!!!

Well, I have PT to thank for the harness idea. As so many people here use them.

As you know, our older cats are inside/outside. I knew George, Milly & Milo had been picked up as strays, so they were used to looking after themselves. Treacle has been inside/outside with his previous owner, so he was used to being inside too.

But I have been worrying how to educate the kittens about the big bad world, so any hints on how to teach the kits about cars etc, will be gratefully recieved

    Dear Tigs & Bramble,

Can you two come over and teach my cats that harnesses aren't a bad thing???

You look like you really enjoyed your outing!! I'm so glad.
