    Our frogs died! :(

I don't know what happened, but we woke up today and found both our frogs upside down at the bottom of the tank.

They were such cool little guys, I feel bad they've died in our care.

The tank was a little bit acidic, but not a whole lot. The temp HAS been up lately with all this hot weather (our den doesn't have an air vent in it..but we keep the blinds shut and put ice in the tank...).

Anyone know if those two things could have caused this?? They were African Dwarf frogs...

I have owned several types of frogs but never this type. I am sorry I cannot give advice. Could they have dried up? How was the humidity? Did you mist the tank every few hours? When was the last time they were fed? It could have been bacteria. When was the last time the tank was cleaned? Just trying to think of things that might have caused them to pass.

I am so sorry about your little guys. I loved my froggies too. They are so easy to get attached to.

    RIP froggies

    P.S. Did they have names?

2 Virginia Opossums, 6 cats, 4 bearded dragons, 1 iguana, 1 red foot tortoise, 1 tripod chihuahua, 5 mice, dubia and hissing cockroaches as well as other misc animals that wander in and out of my home.

    Luckies....

These types of frogs live inside aquariums with fish. They live with all our community fish and were really active.

We cleaned the tank out a week ago (we do it every week, a 25% water change), just like we normally do.

I'll try and find a picture of them. One is named Maurice, the other is Luke.

The only thing I can think of is that there must have been an abrupt temperature change. Poor froggies, I LOVE those little guys. We carry them at work, and they're REALLY neat! They're just really sensitive. I'm sorry about your little guys, it sounds like you have a great setup for them!

I'm so sorry to hear this Kelly. Sounds to me like you took excellent care of them! The more "exotic" pets can be harder to care for just because we don't know everything about their needs.

    RIP Maurice and Luke.

Many thanks to Roxyluvsme13 & k9krazee for my great new siggy!!

I'm sorry to hear about your froggies.

They are such cute litte guys. When I worked at a dorm we used to have one as our resident pet, he lived at the front desk and whoever was working that morning at the front desk would feed him and one of the resident assistants would change his water when needed.
    I've been Defrosted!

Thanks for the great signature Kay!

They are very sensitive creatures, and we are sorry for your loss. They'll be hopping around and swimming at the Rainbow Bridge.

I'm so sorry to hear about your frogs. I'm not sure what could have caused it, I'm no frog expert, but the temperature could have been a factor.

    Sorry.
