    The "hunt"

    Let me set the scene:
Saturday late afternoon I brought Chevy, Timmy and Bonnie home from adoption day event. (Bonnie may be getting a new home....see other thread). With them came a little girl kitten. A VERY VERY scared little girl kitten about the same age (10 weeks). I put her closed carrier and the boys carrier in the foster room. Closed the door. Made sure all was secure. Then let her out. She ran out of the carrier to try to find a hiding spot. I picked her up for a few moments comfort and then set her down in a nice box that she could hide in and left the room.
At about 8 p.m. I went to check on her. NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOO kitten!!!!!! We spent 3 hours scouring that room for nooks and crannies that a kitten could get into. NOTHING! We searched the nearby rooms (on the SLIM chance that she raced past me unseen). NOTHING!
OK. We'll go to bed (I am NOT a night person. this is WAY past my bedtime)
4a.m. wake up and start scouring the room again. NOTHING! searching the other rooms. NOTHING! I even looked in the drop ceiling, the closet (even thought the door never opened). Looked behind and under everything 6 or 7 times. OMG What am I going to do?
at 6a.m. as a desperate last ditch effort we took the drawers out of the desk. (now this is a large SOLID desk, No openings in the back or sides) but nevertheless, THERE she was. GO FIGURE?!?
It was then, and only then that we realized that under the desk, the part where you sit, there is a small opening behind the top drawer (the one that would be over our lap when you sat down). It is way towards the back and I never even knew it existed. Well, it is boarded up NOW.
    WHEW!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Needless to say, no pictures yet, but stay tuned she is a REAL looker!

    Hehehe.
Filou was like that when he was a baby.
There is a cute French movie which is called "Everybody is looking for their kitten" in which a young girl gives her cat to a foster mom during a weekend she is away. When she comes back, the shock: the lady has to admit the cat is gone. The girl starts to look for the kitty and meets everyone in her neighborhood and my even have met love (ok that's a movie) when at the end the cat turns up in a hidden hole of the foster lady Happy end for everyone -like in your case, Jen.

Poor little girl, to be so frightened she had to look so hard for a hiding place. I know she will soon feel safe under your care and am looking forward to pictures.

Wow, what a scare! But at least you found her safe and sound - and gave her a good scolding for scaring you so, I hope.

And yipee! Another foster! Can't wait to see her. Timmy and Chevy are so adorable, that it will be really cute to see them with a sister. And they're both so adorable that I can't believe they went through another adoption day without any takers. What's up with that? But I'm sure it's all for the best and they'll find their furrever homes soon. But in the meantime, it's up to them to make this little girl feel comfortable with humans.

It never ceases to amaze me where cats/kittens can find hiding places.

When I brought home Tigger and her brother Tony I can remember searching the downstairs for hours, then I heard a peep come from the back of the refrigerator and it was then that I saw a little tail sticking out of the back, seems that Tigger and Tony got under the fridge and that was where they were hiding.
