Bonnie is back

Poor Bonnie. She was so scared in her new home that she did nothing but bounce off the walls. She then managed to find a small hole to climb into and while her new parents tried to remove her she bit the "mom" 4 to 5 times. They feared she would never calm down and would hurt herself.
I know Bonnie, and she bounced off my walls when she first arrived too. (these people KNEW that) And I know that she would have come around. (100% positive) But if they are not willing to wait it out there is nothing I can do.
She is fine. She is back "home".

Jen, I'm sorry things didn't work out for Bonnie. Is it possible that people worry too much and don't give the situation time to work out? I know that some situations just don't work (like the one poor SAS has been enduring). And I guess I'm just inexperienced in these matters as I have only had 3 cats in my adult life.

Will you keep her? Or will you start looking for another home?

Yes, Ti is still with me. He too will be like a fish out of water when he finally goes to his new home. It may be Christmas time, but I am determined to find a better home for him.

Jen, you did the right thing by giving Bonnie a chance for a new home and then by allowing her to come back. Maybe it was the wrong home...and she knew it.

Ti, I do believe, thinks this IS the right home for him, unfortunately. I do love the furry guy, but Miley hates him and v.v.

So welcome back Bonnie dear. Enjoy your stay and maybe the next home will be a good fit!

I am sorry to read about Bonnie. She had made such great strides in coming out of her shell. Maybe she wasn't quite ready for a new home yet...

But I have to ask, unless she was going to hurt herself why did they try and remove her from her hidey hole? She would have eventually come out on her own.

I loved your latest signature with Bonnie and I strongly felt how much you love her and how much you care for her...it is so sad that it didn't work out with her new home...

There will be people, who love Bonnie the way she is and who are willing to introduce her to their family on Bonnie's terms...I think they've been a little too impatient with her and haven't given her the time to adjust...

However, what's done is done...and I'm glad she's back at your home, where she feels loved and well cared for...

I think it was NOT a safe place. It sounded like a hole in the wall in the basement. I think they did the right thing in taking her out (they wanted to get her back to her rom) but I also think that they did not allow her the time she needed to calm down and adjust.
The right home IS out there for her and she will be safe and loved until then.

But on a serious note, all the best finding a good home for sweet Bonnie girl. Those people didn't deserve her, talk about impatient.

Our Treacle was literally sick from both ends, in his first placement. (sorry to be so graphic) Due to being in a home with three young children and owners with no sense.

Treacle was then labelled as stressed sick kittie but in our home he settled in the fastest of all our cats. No sickness, no stress just a home with people who love him was all he needed.

Cats know when they are in the right home. Bonnie will settle in properly, when she finds the right owners

It's now really uncommon for a cat to hide in a new home. What a disappointment for you.

Aww...poor Bonnie, but I'm so glad she's back home with you now, where she feels safe.

Like everyone says, and you already know, the right home will come along, with people who have patience and are willing to take her on her terms, and she will know that when the time comes.

The good news is you got your sweet Bonnie back.

Bonnie is perfectly fine. Absolutely normal. As if she never left. Back in the old routine........well, you get the picture.
As it stands now, she will be a long term foster. I will not prevent her from finding that perfect home, but I will not allow her to go into their shelter building, not as long as she can have MY home. Don't get me wrong, their shelter building is nice, such as it is, but it is not a home where people give personal attention to each individual cat. It is divided into rooms, only a couple cages for newcomers or sickies, but it is full and they do not need another body in there right now.
I am encouraged by stories of other cats who had this same thing happen in their first potential home only to go on to find a different home where they were comfortable and stable. So it will come along, she just needed to stay here a bit longer.

Bonnie, I am sorry that your new parents didn’t have the patience to wait and let you feel at home with them. But you are back where you are safe and loved. I know the right home is out there for you. BUT.....I would not be surprised to hear soon somebody now has fourteen cats.

I know exactly what you AND Bonnie are experiencing... and that is Precisely the reason I still have "my" Bonnie, Lily, Emma, etc.....
The semi-feral ones (especially adults) just don't take change well. It's really sad because there just aren't many people out there willing to devote the time to allowing them to settle in on their own terms!!! Another example is my sweet Boots (tuxedo).
I just need a bigger home with a larger area to keep kitties!
