    doin the dance????

this has just started in the last few months and it's kind of funny but kind of embarrassing if someone sees him. After Taylor does his business, either one he does this silly dance where he kicks back his opposite paws, he usually tears up some grass or dirt and it's like he's trying to get rid of it all. It actually is very funny to see and I tell him to stop dancing but he just keeps going until I start to walk again. does anyone else do this or is my puppy just a little dramatic????

This is totally normal behavior for a dog. There is a thread somewhere about it because I was wondering if this behavior more common among males. My Ripley (male) also does this and sometimes he doesn't even begin the kicking until he is about 6' away from where he went potty.

They are showing the next dog to come along how big they are! By scratching the ground, they leave their scent. The more area they scent, the bigger other dogs think they are. As if what they left behind isn't enough

I think it's normal dog behavior. After Duke has a good potty, he'll scratch out with his back feet. It's really funny to watch. And when he gets back inside, he runs around the house a bit if it was a really good potty. Someone here once told me that it was party of marking their territory. I think they said there were some glands that produced smell between the toes. Can't remember but I do remember the phrase "frito feet"

I did the right thing by setting you free
But the pain is very deep.
If only I could turn back time, forever, you I'd keep.
    I miss you

I hear you whimper in your sleep
I gently pet you and say, no bad dreams
It will be alright, to my dog as dark as night.

Fur as dark as the night.

In my heart you'll forever be.

How I wish I could hold you near.
Turn back time to make it so.
Hug you close and never let go.

Yes, it's very common dog behaviour. Many people think their dog is trying to cover up his poop by kicking dirt on it, as cats do. But they are in fact leaving their scent at the scene, for the benefit of other dogs. You will often see dogs do that after an encounter with another dog, especially if they feel the other dog has challenged them in some way.
