    Funny weekend experience

I had my heart stopped on Sunday... not from what bug did but from what i saw.

Here's the setting, the santa cruz mountains. peaceful surroundings with Christmas tree farms, oak trees, deer wondering followed by the fawns (with spots - their ssoooo cute), breeze blowing gentle, nice and quiet, closest neighbor at 1/4 mile distance. Windows open. Fuzzy white cat sleeping in the sun. Calico cat stalking the wild field mouse (wish she'd get the one that ran under the sofa). I returned home from errands on sunday to this setting. ahhh sigh - home away from the silicon valley race. and there lying on my bed is a black animal! and now the black animal is dashing for the window. and oh my gosh - please don't let this be a skunk!! My heart stopped. What if it sprays - on my bed!! I ran for the front door - the opposite direction from my room - only to see - just out of reach of the dog...a cat that is not my own but who has obviously taken up residence. and what was she doing - meowing at me as if to say "how dare you disturb my nap!"

so that was my weekend adventure!

hope it made you smile a bit - sorry i'm not the greatest of tale tellers!

Sorry! didn't mean to leave you in the lurch! she is probably curled up on my porch as the dog and i are at work. getting her sun. She is definitely part siamese - its that distinctive cry! bug is getting used to the cry and the cat is getting used to the dog - i think she'll be hanging around a while. i have even been able to pet her and she responses to my voice. She is a cute and fiesty girl.

What a great story! Loved your set-up. The setting sounds so lovely and peaceful. You really lured me in. What a shock it must have been to see "Goldilocks" napping on your bed!!

Once, arriving at our summer cottage on Cape Cod, I entered the house with a sense of unease. Something or someone had been here! I looked around. I started in the bathroom. The bathtub was covered with little black pawprints! My intruder was I.D'd!! Then again, on the bed, more pawprints. My eyes were drawn to the closed and LOCKED window and Ah hah!! Little claw marks all around the sill! Well, this was a very small house! I searched hi and lo; in every drawer, closet, cupboard, corner, ...NOTHING! For months I wondered how my little furry friend had entered, who he was, and most of all how did he, and HAD he, gotten out!! Well, we finally settled on....down and up the chimmney!

I think Bug and the cats must have been bragging about what a good Mom they have and such a nice place to live. Then it appears they decided to "adopt a stray" just like Cinder did.

Oh how fun! Do you think you'll try and keep the kitty? Maybe Bug is enough What a silly kitty, sounds like she gave you a scare.

Great set up to your weekend adventure! I was picturing everything as I read. So, now you have another friend to help catch the mouse that ran under the sofa

Tats, love the name Goldilocks! Purrfect!

I don't know, Goldilocks for a black kitty? We are the only ones who will "get it"! You'll have a lot of "splaining" to do. Reminds me of Freckles who just passed away last week, named by her then-little girl. Freckles was an entirely black dog. I always called her Freck-less. Seemed to fit her too.

You would think that with three cats now (cuz of course i have to keep her - i've been hearing her cry for almost a year!) and one dog (not count my landlord's dog who likes my house better than his own) plus the skunk under the house there would be no mice around! I even got the yucky cat food (they can't stand it!) just to inspire them to go carniviorous after the mice and STILL i got mice! maybe its time for a terrier?! aerdale?

Wow! I can't believe how fast that little kitty became tame. I've had cats before that wouldn't hardly let you touch them. It would take a couple of weeks. Love that name "Goldilocks"!

    Bugmom,
You need my Honey! She can catch everything! Sometimes I think she is part cat anyway!

It took Goldilocks a year to accept us and now she has decided that this is her family so she has moved on in! she's been watching on the fringe and stealing kibble. I've heard her talking and i talked back. she is definitely a different kind of personality in cats! I think she'll be the one to make the feline stand to bug. (that'll be interesting!!) I'm beginning to feel very out numbered! and extremely happy
