    Rare indeed...

    Hello Cleo:
    I too thought that red was a sex-linked gene and were only male, like calicos are only females, who usually produce at least one red in each litter. So you are special.

    Hey Mesiecat - red is a sex-linked gene, but red females are not unheard of, it's just that females have to get the red gene from both parents, not just one, so red females are less common! Just an FYI!

    So she is rare, but aren't most female reds sterile????
