Tree Killer

Nebo's always found it very necessary to "prune" our trees now and then. There's not a single tree out there with a branch lower then 3 feet. But today my mom was complaining that he uhh...took a chunk of bark out of one. She said it looked like some bear or cougar attacked it. He just does it when I let him out to go potty....I never let him stay out there for longer then 10 minutes...(I have to go call him, otherwise he'd just run around out there all night lol) Any ideas on how to stop this? I'm thinking maybe some of that Bitter Apple or Fooey stuff, though the bitter apple didnt' work for him as a pup.

There are things on the market for this sort of thing. I'm not sure what it's called? But it's a spray mostly comprised of ammonia that will make it so a diog doesn't go within feet of it!

I wish I knew what it was called, I forget?

Most dogs aren't supposed to like hot sauce (Although when we tried it with Sadie for digging, she liked it!)

Another trick I have heard (but never tried) is to rub stick deodorant on the object you don't want chewedon and then spray perfume over top. The perfume will give the "yucky" taste and the deodorant will help that taste "cling" to the object.

We also had one (well...2 I guess but Huney only did it on occassion-just can't figure out what the occassion was!) of those too. We tried everything to make Roxey quit chewing on the trees, but nothing helped (sorry to say). I sure hope you can find something....or wait till he's around 2 like Roxey to quit

Oh Nebo,
You are still in that adolesent stage.
Stop using those tree brances like tooth pics.
Well, not much to tell you accept I put a type of chicken
wire around 2 of my young trees, and
on a corner of my wood fence wear Rocky
was chomping. I also used the bitter apple which
did not seem to help much.
All's I can say thankgoodness he stopped
be so destructive when he hit around 2.25 years of age.

My dogs all love to lick deodorant off of me
Sounds like a good idea though!!

I am worried about this too, since we just had our yard done, and they planted 3 new trees out back--I have a feeling they may get pruned by my little "gardeners" too.
