My sister is having problems with Jazz peein in the house.....

I need to get some advice..
My sister Melissa, says she is having problems with Jazz peeing in the house and not in the litter box. She is only a few months old.... why would she be doing this?

it could be a medical problem, your sister should take her to the vet, then if there is no medical reason, like My Callie, try feliway plug ins, it has stopped her from peeing outside the box! but, if the cat is only a kitten still, I don't know, I'm sure tothers on here will have better answers. how long have you had the kitty, is she just recently separated from her mother?

The first time I saw her at Candace's house I thought she looked to little to be away from her momma. I am guessing she is two to three months old now.......

Maya peed on things associated with me because of seperation anxiety we figure. The vet gave her a health check and since there was nothing physically wrong recommended Feliway, cleaning out the smell with enzyme cleaners and an ani-anxiety med. This settled the problem after a few weeks. We are fine now and have had no further episodes.

Is the box low enough that the little one can get in?
If the walls are too high it may be a problem.

My cats go outside now for the "nature calls" but In the past when I had kittens they also tried the same thing. If they are brought into the home it's a good idea to keep them in one room of the home, with the kitty litter box, till they get it down right. Running free in the home they could either foget where the box is or kitten can be just like kids, wait till the last minute and then the can't make it to the box in time. Just an idea till they get a little older and get it down.

She does keep the box in one spot right? and show them offen where it is?

Another thought, it can also be the kitty litter she using. Some cats won't go if they don't like the smell or texture. Years ago I had a cat that I had to start off with dirt in the box and then slowly add kitty litter till she got use to it.

When I first got Mollie Rose, she kept pooping behind my living room chair. The vet told me to close her in a spare room with her litterbox, food and water for 48 hours. It did the trick and she learned fast!

But the first thing I would do is make sure it's not a medical problem, like a Urinary Tract Infection.

Let us know how you make out.
