    Birthday

Guess what, I am 66 today. Wow where did the time go? I was born during the depression, I saw world war 2 through the eyes of a child, was a teenager and graduated from high school in the early fifties, was a mother in the late fifties, was a divorced single mother in the early sixties, worked my way up to President of a Corporation here in California in the late 60s, in the early seventies remarried, in the mid seventies retired from my job, in the late seventies decided to go back to school and picked medicine (wanted to help people) became a Certified Medical Assistant, mid eighties retired from that, began traveling to Europe, Mexico, Canada, St. Thomas, Hawaii and USA, late eighties to mid ninties our kids got married and had kids of their own, Don's daughter Mickie who was 42 passed away with cancer, we were getting older and now it was time for dogs. That's when we got Miss Daisy and Perry. I guess you could say this is just about the total of my biography. Last Sunday the kids had a birthday party for me, today Don and I are going to the Indian Casino to have a little fun We are not big gamblers, only the nickle machines but we like to go out there for breakfast and play a little. Sorry about the long post, just rambling on a little. Just remember to do all the things you want to do, time passes so quickly.

Happy Birthday Jackie!!! Isn't it amazing the things your remember that the current generation will never know about? My son is 11 years old. When he was 4 I gave him a record box of old 45's of kids fairy tales. I turned my back and when I came back into the room he had tossed them all like frisbee's into a basket. I shreeked and asked him what he thought he was doing. He said he thought they were frisbee's Needless to say they were all scratched beyond using them again.

His age has never watched Black and White TV, Never had only Network TV, (What did they do before Cable) or used a 33 album. They have always had CD's and Walkman's. They do not remember the day when there wasn't a McDonald's around the corner or (are you ready for this) there were only PF Flyer tennis shoes. He thinks I'm crazy when I tell him bread was 10 cents a loaf or we went to the movies for 25 cents. He really thinks I've lost it when I tell him I got a whole bag of candy for 25 cents. We use to get two pieces of Candy for a penny at the corner store!!!!!

Life was sooooo much simpler when you were a kid. Even when I was too (I'm 41) but thank God one thing has never changed..... The unconditional love that a pet gives. That is the same today as it was forever. Thank God we are blessed with their love and may we be half the person that our pets think we are!!!!!

Have a joyous birthday and please forgive me for going off on a tangent. It's just apparent you realize what a blessing life is and that's it's too short to waste. We need to teach the newer generation to appreciate the small gifts that come our way and not take them for granted. Birthday Blessings and many many more to come!

As my mom would say, "you're just a pup!" (She actually told me this yesterday because I turned ... gulp ... 35.)

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKIE! And, as they used to say in Victorian times "Many happy returns of the day." May all the future years be as full of adventures as the past ones. Best wishes from Carina and Alicia
Do you think Karen and Paul posted the DOTD today as a special birthday present to you?

A very happy birthday, Jackie. The first time I saw your previous name, JackiesDaisy1935, plus your comments in other topics, I realized the significance of those numbers. So I wasn't surprised you are 66 this year. You were President of what type business?

I'm a year older than Jackie, and forever grateful that TV wasn't around when I was school age.

    Enjoyed the bio, Jackie..

Dear Jackie.. I feel honored to have met you met you and to call you my friend. How I pestered you with emails about my Homestead website! Thanks for all your help! And though we have never met "in person," my life is richer for having known you and shared in your generosity of spirit, your wonderful family and especially, your sincere love for all living creatures. You have led such a rich, full, and rewarding life. You have so much to be proud of!! Have the happiest of days. Yet one of many, many birthdays yet to come.

Much love and sincere best wishes

We are back from our fun trip, had a wonderful breakfast, had fun playing the slots, actually I won two five dollar ones, yaaaa, Don did pretty good too, but I think we left more than we came home with.
Thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes, sometimes I just ramble on, I write more than I talk. I'm not a very good talker but a good listener.
Kobieeli a belated Happy Birthday, Logan an early Happy Birthday to you and Hercules I am very honored to share a birthday with you.
DixieLand Dancer I can relate to all of that and lots more. Angel it would be a pleasure to sit down and talk to you. Albea I think Karen and Paul did put Reggie on as a birthday present.
Freckles I was President of a Company called In-fra-red of San Diego, Inc. We manufactured sandwiches here in our plant for distribution to the military, forest firefighters, schools, organizations bars, etc we also had frozen sandwiches in the markets. At the time we had in-fra-red ovens which we would loan to each customer. Of course those were replaced by microwave ovens. The Chairman of the Board and myself decided to sell the company, thus I retired.
Thanks for the nice message Sandra, my fellow New Englander, you were the first to welcome me to PetTalk. You know the old saying " You can take the Yankee out of New England, but you can't take New England out of the Yankee" I told you all I write much more than I talk. Sorry about that.
By the way, guess what I got for my birthday?
A spanking brand new Hewlett Packard Deskjet printer. It makes wonderful copies of photos.
Geeze there just is not enough time in the day for me anymore I tell my daughter at the end of the day I'm tired and she says why are you so tired, you both are retired and don't do much. I got news for her.
    I wrote another book, sorry
    Jackie
    Simba you made my day
