    Baby Bunnies!

There's an espresso stand that I always go to on the weekends that I drive through a park to get to. Well, the park has a little "bunny community" so I always see bunnies on my way to the espresso stand. (That's actually the only reason I go through the park, it's actually sort of a round about way of getting to the place...) Well, yesterday on my drive there were 5 new baby bunnies! They are soooo cute! So, today I brought along my camera to take some pics of them! ... Ruby goes crazy around the rabbits... She wants to get out and chase them soooo bad

    Here's some pics:

Here's the 5 babies... one is gray so it's harder to see. Sorry it's so blurry, my digital camera doesn't have a great telephoto

    another bunny

    and another bunny

    Hope you liked the pics

Wild bunnies can't look like that? I never knew that I know that sometimes if wild rats inbreed alot, a bunch of colour mutations can happen..

We have hundreds of rabbits that look like that at the University of Victoria. They are pretty tame.. the people in the cafeteria feed them salad greens and leftover fruits from the kitchen They even named one.. she come running when they call "Panda!! Breakfast!" It's very cute!

We have one baby bunny that runs around this person`s yard. I`m pretty sure it`s wild, but I`m afraid It might not be able to...ummmm...run around...If you know what I mean. It`s soooo cute.

I have never seen wild bunnies this colour - I am in the UK - I did once see a black one with the normal wild rabbits (I presume an ex pet).

One thing to me is that they may look cute but their colours mean they are severely disadvantaged - they have no camouflage from preditors - such as birds of prey, foxes and domestic dogs. I also would fear the tame ones are open to abuse from cruel people just through being friendly to people.

To me I don't understand why they are out there - why they haven't been caught and homed as pets where they will be safe.

Not meaning to be mean but it does worry me, they are gorgeous though.
    Happy to help

Like I said before, these rabbits have been there for years. So obviously they're doing something right.

I've always assumed they they were once probably pets, but they are not at all tame now. They are completely wild, even if they look like pets.

They are VERY lucky bunnies to have survived that long on the loose. Mom and Dad must have been dumped....true wild rabbits are a "salt & pepper" combination of brown, white and black.
And Shellonabeach is correct....that bright white fur is an easy target of any predators..on 2 or 4 feet or from the sky.
Mom to 9 wonderful bunnies and an energetic young cat from you-know-where.

They are cute!! But I also feel sorry for them thinking someone just dumped them
