    dogs and kids

Some people think that some breeds like German Shepherds, APBTs, and Bulldogs aren't good with kids, but this is NOT true. It is true that some particular breeds can be mouthy, but that can be prevented. My friend's aunt just got her kids (ages 6, 5, and 3) 3 German shepherd/Pit bul cross puppies, and they are great with them. They used to have 2 pit bulls but they had to sell them for financial reasons (since then they have been able to keep new dogs) and they were GREAT with the kids. They also used ot have an American bulldog that lived with their beagles (they bred beagles but the kids didnt really pay much attention to them because they were mainly hunting dogs ) and the bulldog was great with them. He was really sweet (they had to sell him also with the pit bulls). I juust wanted to say that these dog are normally great with kids.

When I was very little, my aunt had a german shepherd who I LOVED to visit. Whenever we went up there, I would spend the whole time with the dog. He was the most gentle thing with me, and more times than I can remember, I fell asleep with my head on his chest or stomach.

Guess that proves it! And just my two cents' worth... My aunt had a German Shepherd when I was little and since she lived right next door to us, I was always over there playing with him (he was called Sherman). He loved it when us kids came around, especially at parties and when we celebrated Chinese festivals too ( my family is Chinese). But he died of liver cancer a few years back.. he was a great dog~
I think I own my dog, but it owns my heart and home

I'll just add my two cents worth too.... I believe it's how they are raised and trained. A trained dog is a loved dog and a loved dog is a secure dog and a secure dog is a happy dog. Any dog can be mean if it's given the wrong attention.
