    Elvis Pic After Surgery

Here's a picture of Elvis two days after his surgery. It's his left ear that they amputated. He's propped up on the bed giving himself a good bath. You can see on his legs where they had to shave him to place the catheter. He's got tough old tom cat skin that makes placing a catheter tricky. They ended up putting it in his back leg. This photo is a little graphic....so if you get grossed out easily be warned!

Aww poor guy! That looks so painful! I'm sure you posted, but I must have missed it....why did they have to amputate the ear?

He had what they thought was a cancerous growth. Because of where it was located they had to take the whole ear off. But, on the good side....this type of cancer is totally fixable if they get the growth off soon enough. And with his seizure disorder it's best if he doesn't have to go under anesthesia again. As you can see, he's actually feeling pretty good! He certainly hasn't missed a meal.......

I know exactly how you feel!

I rescued my baby from the local shelter and had to take her back for veterinary care straight away because she also had an infection in her left ear (from the ID tattoos). Fortunately, after a week long stint at the Vet (!) she is much better. Good luck with poor Elvis! That does look painful! I hope he recovers soon!

Poor baby! I sure hope he has a speedy recovery!

Oh Elvis, I shouldn't laugh, but with that pose, your curled lip and sore ear, I can't help but chuckle. I do hope you recover soon little one. You are so precious!!
Life should NOT be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in an attractive and well preserved body, but rather to skid in sideways, champagne in one hand and strawberries in the other, body thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and screaming WOO HOO - What a Ride!

Elvis I hope you feel better soon, you look a little beat up from the surgery, but you still look like a happy healthy boy.
