Why do we open more than one thread for the Cat of the Day?
I am always undecided, because I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings if I don't post on their thread.

...I think the few individuals who open yet another thread for the Cat of the Day do so inadvertently; out of their excitement, perhaps, for that day's cat, they may not have noticed that a thread for that particular cat already exists, before they start their thread for said cat. I find that most people in this forum stick to an unwritten rule (for lack of a better term) to first be certain that a thread for the cat of their choice had already been started, and then post a reply within that thread.
Personally I don't think you'd be hurting anyone's feelings by favoring one thread over another; in the wild frontier of the Internet, there's a heckuva lotta room for people to make mistakes and then learn from those mistakes. (And that's my two cents for the day.)

I accidentally did that today, on DOTDIt was SO early in the morning and the last post was on the thread for yesterday's DOTD. I guess someone was posting belatedly and I didn't look down to notice that "Captain," who lives in Australia, had already started one very early in the a.m. I felt awful...

I have another question that has to do with my original question.
Whenever I log on - go into Pet Talk and then say Cat of the Day - (the threads) I have to "refresh" to get the current days threads.
This is what made me ask the question, because after I have done that I can see if a thread has already started for the Cat of the Day.
Is this clear?
Just curious if anyone else has to do this.
Gini, I have to refresh too, to get the current "situation". It started a little while before Paul's update and I mentioned it. Well, I suppose we'll have to live with it.
Concerning more threads being made for Cat, Dog and Pet of the Day, I too find it rather unneccesary - in fact a bit irritating. OK, it can happen, but I happens quite often these days!
You don't have to feel bad about only replying to one of the threads, if we all just reply to the first, I'm sure people will figure out why.![]()
