To disect or not to disect

We have to disect frogs in a couple days and if I don't disect them then our science teacher forces us to watch. I don't feel like cutting open a dead frog, or watch someone else do it. What should I do?

Your state (New York) currently has laws upholding a student's right to choose humane alternatives to dissection without being penalized.

This website http://www.navs.org/education/studen...onID=Education offers you a copy of the 1994 New York state law by calling 1-800-922-FROG.

So you need to explain to your teacher that by law you must be allowed humane alternatives. There are many virtual frog dissection materials!

You can get some through the Humane Society of the United States via this website http://www.hsus.org/ace/13476

Some alternatives can even be done FREE ONLINE...they include:

At this link, you will find links to several virtual dissection sites that cover various animals, including frogs, rats, clams, worms, cats, crayfish, pigs, squid, starfish, and mice. You’ll also find dissections on sheep’s brains and cows’ eyes.
