Thank you so much for asking!!!!!
Well, Killian is still on the Prednisone (that is not good for his liver). He is taking it every other day and we are trying to wean him off of it. However, as I dropped the dose to every other day, little signs of Autoimmune are showing up again.I will continue with the attempt, but I'm not sure how it is going to go.
The good news is that Killian is eating like a horse!!!He even eats goodies that he would never even look at before. I am amazed. He is an eating machine. He cleans out his bowl faster than Shiloh (and that is some accomplishment
)! He is the first one looking for food now. He will even play with Shiloh more. He is acting more like a "normal" dog. I like it.
We signed Shiloh and Killian up for a walkathon, but I don't think Killian will be able to make it. I've noticed that he gets very tired on even short walks now. I see him starting to slow down. After discussing it with my husband (who also takes him on his walks), we've decided that it would be too risky to make him walk too far. This will be the first year Killi, my love, will not be going on a walkathon. I am sad to realize that he is 9 yrs. old and he is definitely getting old. I did think about getting him a wagon, but they don't make them big enough for him.
Thank you so very much for asking about my boy!!

Isn't it sad to see our babies growing older, not knowing how much time we have left with them![]()
We just have to be happy that we've had the wonderful years together that we have and not worry too much about the future![]()
Sorry that Killian won't be able to go on this years walkathon.
Give them both a big hug & kiss from me!

Yay Sue,,I'm SO happy our super, duper #1GSD boy is doing Ok!
Kili did his share of Walk-a-Thons, so he's entitled to his day of respite...
I just don't think our dogs are old.. people said to me.."You had Cody a long time and he was old" and I wanted to just slap the crap out of them....I know I was lucky to have him for 11.4 but hell, 20 years wouldn't have been enough.....
Here's K9K's new rule..NO MORE BIRTHDAYS! Just continuous daily celebrations of their lives as we always do but that's it.
I would have gladly given up 10 human years for Cody to be here longer.
{{{HUGS}} and kisses to you Sue, Killi, Shiloh for everything....
I've been Boooo'd!
Well I am husbandless (at least through tonight), so I am up to my old habits of staying up too late. But I'm glad I did so I could read your update, Sue. It's funny how we become attached to certain dogs and I truly believe it is because so many of us have been here for so long now, learned about each other and our pets. You are no exception and neither is Killian! And we are making new friends every day here too!!
I'm wondering if the prednisone might be helping his appetite, even if it isn't helping the liver. I know that one of the side effects in humans is increased appetite and thirst. I guess it is the same for our dogs too. I think Killian will forgive you for skipping the Walk-a-thon this year. You know he will be ready for some love and playtime when you get back!
Karen, you are so right about their age. My precious Kaycee was nearing 12 years old when we lost her. It was far too soon for us, especially since Helen and I had only had her for 5 of those years. But then there is Murphy, our wonder dog, who is 13 and going strong! And there was Chuck, our Lab, who lived to be 15! I can only hope for that much time with Honey and Lilly. I just wish for longevity for all of them, so we can continue to enjoy them to the max, every single day!!!!
Thanks for the update, Sue.![]()
You are right, Logan, the pred has given him this huge appetite! He doesn't drink a lot, though. I was told that it would probably happen. It's like he is a different dog in the food department. Soon we will have to do a liver panel to see what's going on, but it seems that he feels a lot better on the pred. His eyes are bright, not dull. Actually, he is really a pest in the kitchen!!![]()
I agree, our furbabies are not with us long enough.
