    New (kitty) neighbors

New people moved into the storefront apartment at the end of our block here at work. They changed the store front back into a store front (took down the plywood that was covering the windows to expose the inside) and they have an art gallery there. Sometimes the guy is standing there painting when - in full view of everyone - when I leave for work.

Well the one morning I went by and there was a beautiful all white, short haired cat sitting in the window watching the world go by. Of course I had to stop and say "Hi pretty kitty." He/she ignored me, but I thought oh goody a kitty to keep an eye on as I come and go from work (since my Pug buddy moved out ).

A few days later, dont' know why we were discussing it, but my boss mentioned an all black cat there, and sure enough when I left that day there was an all black, long haired kitty in the window. (he reminds me of Pepper)

So now we have an all white, short haired kitty and an all black, long haired kitty residing in the same place. So last night when I left, what do I see but.....a tuxie!!! I thought, well that is certainly appropriate!

He was so cute, but as I talked to him he looked like he was going to flee back to the safe part of the apartment, so I stopped talking and went on my way. He must be a little shyer than the other two and that's why I haven't seen him until now. As I was looking and talking to him, the other black one came out of the door that leads to the apartment part of the store, and he was licking his chops. Must have just finished dinner and came out to see who was talking to his brother/sister.

Now I've three kitties to keep an eye on as I come and go from work - yipee!

    Great idea Lut!

That's so great you have an extended fur family! Its fun to see kitties out while your out and about. Neat you get to see them almost every day.

Have you met the people that live/work there?

No I haven't. They've only been there about two weeks now. I saw a guy there once, painting a new picture for his art gallery, but I didn't stop in. In the morning the only thing I've ever seen stirring is the white and black kitties - the tux I only saw at night so far.

It's been kinda cold here lately so they haven't been hanging in the windows. I'm sure it's much warmer back in the apartment portion of the store front.

That is a good idea, Lut. Have to see what I can do about that.

Wow, would be nice to have their humans on Pettalk. It seems they are good cat lovers if they have three kitties. We wouldn't mind them sharing pictures of their cuties.

Well, it took me awhile, but I finally got pics of the new neighborhood kitties.

There is usually one white one sitting out. Seems he/she (I'll call him he for brevities sake) is always there, and prefers to sleep in the sun. I've named him Snowy.

Here's another good pic of him - with the number of the art studio incase anyone is interested. I knew I'd get a lot of questions about the art/artist, but all I know is that some of his stuff is beautiful! Sometimes he will set up his easel and start painting, right out in the open. I think that's a great idea for an artist. There is a bus stop right on this corner too, so he gets a lot of window shoppers.

Snowy really prefers to sleep ontop of the little table that is set up by the door. It always has fresh flowers in a glass vase on it, along with business cards for people frequenting the studio. I'm amazed that I haven't seen the glass vase smashed on the floor a couple of times. This pic is kind of blurry because of the reflections on the windows, but you can see Snowy on top of the table. He loves it there!

And this last one I had to make black and white so you could see through the glare on the glass (the bike racks are actually outside and just reflected in the window). Snowy has many siblings. There is another all white cat that looks just like Snowy (actually I can't be 100% sure that all these pics are Snowy and not his brother/sister). Then there is an all black long haired kitty, then there is a tuxie, and in this pic Snowy is seen snoozing in the sun (his most favorite place) with his meezer sibling in the background.

I knew about the blackie and the tuxie, but I only recently saw the other white one and the meezer. Oh, and I know there are two white ones because I saw them both at the same time. Otherwise I would have never known there were two because they really look exactly alike. Must be real life siblings.

Also in this last pic, you can get a real good view of the table that Snowy likes to sit on, along with the glass vase full of flowers.

He always brightens my day on my way too and from work. And it really makes my day when I see the other ones out too. Snowy likes micies, strings and milk jug rings. I've seen him playing with all of these already. He's such a goofy kitty when he's playing.

How neat to have near you! I just found out a new local restaurant here was named after the owners cat and there is a pic of his cats when you walk in the door. It is called Otto's Pub and Brewery.

Has anyone been to Shopcat? the addys is www.shopcat.com

Debbie -- I don't know which I am more envious of...you working in a neighborhood that has such interesting establishments (unlike ther very sterile suburbs!)or getting to look at darling cats to and from work! If you get stressed about something do you go and look at the cats for an instant tranquillizer?

But let's talk about Snowy's name.......

I agree with Sara: the gallery looks very interesting but it is even better with the cats in it

Actually Snowy was named in honor of you. Somebody else mentioned naming a white cat Snowy awhile back, and you said you didn't like that because of your name, so that was sticking in my head that night as I walked past him, so it just kind of stuck. Sorry 'bout that.

Actually I have no idea what his real name is, so if you'd like to come up with something else, that would be fine with me - and him since he doesn't even know I've named him Snowy, and for all I know he's a she.

And actually, when I get stressed, I come to PT and look at all the adorable kitties here. I can sneak quick peaks in while my boss is here, and that is usually enough to get me by until he leaves and I can spend all day on here like I did today.

  11. Debbie...just kidding about the name ...It is just that when someone calls to an animal named Snowy my head jerks -- thinking they are talking to me!

I wanted to ask some days ago about these kitties.
We have some stray kittens near the office - one black (I want him!), one white and black, and one black and white. And there is the mother, which is a tuxie and, I guess, the father of the kittens - he's also white and black (I mean, he has more white than black, that's why I say white and black ). The male is very funny - his face is white and he has black marks a la Louis XVI - moustache and beard

Any place that welcomes pets is a good place, in my opinion.
