    Madison's adventurous day + pics

Grr, anyone want a cat?! lol
Madison, my 11 month old 'pride and joy' got out not once, not twice, but THREE times today... it must be the spring air or something. Him and his brother are strictly indoor cats (we live in the city on a busy street) but Madison is a born and bred outdoor cat I think. Every single time the door opened today he shot out. Luckily the snow is still melting and there's a large puddle at the bottom of the deck stairs that he didn't feel like jumping. He was born in a barn, but has lived inside since being one month old. It was never really an issue last summer, but I hope this isn't a growing trend :|
Here are some piccys of Madison after his 'time out' being locked in my bedroom for the remainder of the afternoon. I was looking at cat breeds today... does anyone think he has some main coon in him or something? No one knows who his father is, but his mother was a short haired tabby. His brother Bandit looks just like momma.

I find that a squirt bottle near the door works great in keeping them from trying to race out the door. Well it works with all but Kaliban. She just keeps on moving...water doesn't faze her in the least.

Hee Hee. Spring fever is in the air Madison is so gorgeous. Looks like a precious fellow.
I doubt maine coon. The tell-tale signs of maine coon lineage are tufted ears and huge long bushy tails. I can't seen Madison's tail. Most likely, he's a domestic long hair. Absolutely perfect

EDIT: Must've been posting at the same time as you were posting the tail pic. I change to Definetly Maine Coone. Check out that big tail! So pretty!

The is their punishment too, but he is just so quick... he never seems to try when you KNOW he's there, but its when he starts in the kitchen or living room that you have to watch cuz he will time it perfectly and run right by. Plus both of them like the water so the bottle isn't much of a deterient... they play in the sink and tub *sigh*

Haha, yeah, I thought I had that last one in the bunch the first time, but obviously not

The tail is the tel-tale sign for me, but I don't know much about cat breeds and their other characteristics. He's a huge cat, and his tale is very long and full.

I'll have to find Bandit tomorrow so I can add his pics to the thread. He's off sleeping under the bed or something and the lighting is getting a little dark for my digital camera now

Madison is beautiful!! I would definitely say Maine Coone or maybe Norwegian Forest Cat. They are so similar, and I don't really know what the differences between the two breeds are. Both are big cats, both have long hair.....

    He really is stunning.

Wow Madison is one gorgeous cat. The only thing I can think of to prevent him from running out the door is to get a small tin and secure little stones or marbles in it and before you go out the door and Madison is there, just toss the tin towards him and hopefully this will startle him enough for you to make your get away before he does.
    Good luck.

What a gorgeous guy! He looks Maine Coone to me too....here's a "test". Does he have a tendancy to nip at you when he's in a "mood"? A few of the Pet Talk Maine Coone's do that here.

Too funny on wanting out...Noah used to do that when he was little, but soon discovered what was beyond the door....OUTSIDE!!!

Oh Madison is gorgeous.... yes, definitely some Maine Coon in that boy!

Oh dear, I'm afraid my foster (Chandler) has given Maine Coons a bad rap now with his biting!!! My Dexter (Maine Coon mix) does nip... but not when he's in a mood... well, just a playful mood.... not mad!!!

Anyway, Madison is handsome indeed... good luck keeping him in... naughty, naughty kitty!!!

    Dear Madison:

We all love and care about you just like your Mommy and you worry us when you dart out. I know that Spring is here and you are curious about what's on the other side of the door but maybe you can talk your Mommy into trying a leash. That would keep you safe and out of harm's way.

Madison is very handsome and probably does have some Maine Coon in him. My soon to be born niece is also going to be named Madison.
