New Dog... help identifying the breeds?

well.. I just got this new sweetheart two days ago, and the lady I got him from said he was a boxer / akita mix.

his tail is curly and he walks on his toes... he is big, very strong, and very laid back. around 3-4 yrs we guess.

anyways, ive heard a lot of mixed opinions on him and i wanted to see if maybe some people here could help point me in a direction.

    thanks! here are some pics

    thanks!!!

thanks so much! im so proud of how much of a sweetie he is, being rescued from an abusive home and all.

he is really settling into this new family quite well...we're so happy to have him here.

anyways , whatever breeds he is, he is a great guy!

Your new dog looks to me like an Anatolian Shepherd.

I think your new pup is a cutie. When I cant tell what breed it is when it is a mix I give it a special name. In your case I say you got one great "All Southern California Dog" The best kind to have. Have fun with your new pup.

He's got Mastiff coloring, how big is he? Is he a drooler? Lab/Mastiff mix? Dunno about the curly tail, though - some Basenji? His coat looks very smooth/close, and that's the only curly-tailed smooth coater I can think of!

Without knowing any other info I'd say Akita/Bullmastiff? or maybe Akita/Pitbull? Could be anything. I like the sound of the Anatolian Shepard(sp), tho.
